The Naim New Classic range - Part 1

Naim… it ages alongside its audience!

If used often enough, will the word/phrase “Statement like” qualify as Onomatopoeia?

Hi Richard,
Very tongue in cheek but I find it difficult to see how a 4x4 can’t get up a muddy lane. I have driven Land Rovers in some pretty bad conditions (including along test areas used for military tank testing) and found that they can get there in the end. Right gear, right speed, 4wd, diff lock etc. There used to be off-road driving courses, one of those may get you on the right track (sorry for pun) and hence up to those trees/plantation.
Anyway back to thread and apologies for diversion.

The clay round our way is something else, and when wet it’s super-slick. This particular track is two steep sides into a gully and a culvert. It has claimed all sorts over the years. One year my nephew came over in a friend’s Range Rover which managed to slip off the track and roll into the gully. All attempts to recover it failed and various recovery land rovers, and then tractors all had to be themselves rescued until I called an end to it as the damage was getting too bad and the culvert was in danger of getting damaged. So the upside down Range Rover had to stay there for the best part of 6 months until the clay had dried enough for a tractor to safely haul it out.

Hehe. Someone I know introduced me to this phrase
I can only assume that he was referring to my system when listening to some jazz (Chet baker funny Valentine on Enja) and classical (Handel messiah John Eliot Gardiner). There were some other sarcastic remarks about some big avantgarde horn speakers and their disconnected bass  but this is starting to diverge this thread

Interesting. I must try to explore that avenue at some stage

I have the same impression although my wife never comments luckily but I’m sure adding speakers that need to go off the wall into the room, I’m sure there will be remarks made😉

Great to know. I hope that I get a similar pleasing result in the new extension of the place where we will retire

Thanks!! So do i

I’m keen to hear the same combo, holds the potential to be something rather special.

4 wheels can lose traction too even with diff locks. Especially in wet clay or worse ice. Been there.

@Paul52135 @Richard.Dane Agree with what has been said especially regarding driving on ice (and clay). If it is really bad for much of the year (assumption based on 6 month comment from Richard) specialist tyres (incorporating studs, chains etc) may provide some benefit.

Just offering some suggestions so Richard can get up to his trees - is he cutting them up so they can be dried out before using in a log burner…or is that a different thread?

Back on track.

Kevin likes his fragrant descriptive language, fruity indeed.
i’ve known him even before he developed & released his first LV products early 90’s .

I did once spend an enjoyable hourish listing to his biggest horns fed by the very fruity priced audionote valve amplification

I followed a much more simple path

He won’t like it but down boxed around 6 years ago sold off my OBXR / BP 300B /cables and bought some ATC SCM40 actives with the proceeds ( within a few quid). They are fed from 272 (and now 555).
So i’m ideal customer for a 222 swap out…but alas no HDMI input/output

I love his enthusiasm.

Different sound. There are many roads to audio contentment, I am sure the 300B & LVs made very engrossing music.
