If I was a betting man I would not expect the Superline to be in production long term. Maybe there will be a replacement that works with the NPX300? Time will tell.
Ditto the Stageline. With MM built into all the integrateds moving forward and now the preamps too by the looks of it, it probably means they can just offer a single high end phono stage and further reduce the rationale for lower end power supplies.
Glad I got my Stageline ordered in under the wire.
I would not be surprised if the Solstice phono preamp is “reborn” as a stand alone product. It shares the same DIN connector as the 222. I can’t imagine Naim putting all that R&D into a phono pre and not continuing to make it.
It’s the only thing Naim allowed leaked out. It’s in the price list even (or some of them). It just didn’t quite make it in time for the release of the other 3 NC bits. It’s been discussed in this thread bit. But I can’t summon the energy to scroll back.
The SuperLine was designed to work from our pre-amp PSUs.
Our pre-amp PSUs are all +24V (ignoring the control PSU)
It was designed like this so that it could be used without a separate PSU, i.e. plugged directly into the back of a pre-amp and be powered from it.
It was also designed to work with it’s own SuperCap, being fed with multiple +24V PSUs
Inside the SuperLine it generates it’s own +12V reference (half PSU rail). The signal now sits on +12V so it can swing both up and down. Because the +12V reference is ultra quiet it takes over 1 minute to unmute.
NVC was designed to start in seconds. It runs from +/-18V (internally DR’d to +/-12V). The reference is 0V and no settling time is needed. (+/- rails do sound better IMHO)
We do not have +24V rails on the NPX 300 and therefore it cannot power a SuperLine
