Canā€™t believe youā€™ve not found this thread useful in determining where the NC 200 series sits within Naim hierarchy!

Nait 2?

But the 282 isnā€™t a source. What source did you use for the 282?

Well done!

Used the Solstice for both 282 and 222. Also hugo tt2

Maybe Graeme, but more likely this I think;

Now that would be interestingā€¦ā€¦

It doesnā€™t, it sits at the bottom of the Naim new classic series hierarchy with a very noticeable upgrade to the NSC222 by adding an NPX300 to it.
I enjoyed my quick demo of the new classic line up so far and look forward to hear the rest when it comes out.

This is consistent with what Iā€™ve heard as well and not surprising. Itā€™s good to see Naim producing better SQ with the lower tier boxes.

So youā€™ve actually heard a new classic series demo then?

seakayakerā€™s response: ā€œYour own earsā€¦ā€

I believe the only way you are going to be sure is to demo and listen with your own ears. Following the enthusiastic recommendations from others can be helpful and can also prove catastrophic. ā€¦a demo system, in my room, with my ears, may have different results then some of the other enthusiastic responses regarding the new gear posted in this thread.

My one time listen in the dealers show room of the NPX 300, NCS 200, NAP 250 (2023) did not leave me with the impression that spending $26,997.00 plus 10.1% sales tax was worth replacing my XPS DR > NDX 2 > SuperCap DR > NAC 282 > NAP 250 DR.

The new gear is lovely but having had an initial listen Iā€™ll stick with what I have for now.

Happy for those who made the upgrade and I am looking forward to the upcoming 300 series being released.

Yeah, I can manage that too. Did you use the same source?

Glad you donā€™t feel the need to junk your old amps - theyā€™re not even Naimā€™s inspiration for new by sounds of it but what do they know!

Iā€™ve bought loads of Naim gear unheard based on the recommendations and impressions of members here and friends here in the states. You never really know about any kit until itā€™s plugged into your home listening environment. Dealer demos are only going to give you an impression. In 25 years the only kit I really regretted was the 252/SC2/250.2 and less so the 200. The DR series seemed to correct the problems I had with the original classic. I havenā€™t home demoed the NC kit but the feedback Iā€™ve heard from my friends in the states who have has been good and corroborates the impressions most are having here. Iā€™m anxiously awaiting the 300 series kit. I didnā€™t like the old classic sound coming from the olive boxes and I think itā€™s normal some folks wonā€™t like the latest kit whether thatā€™s based on actual SQ observations or just stubbornness is another matter.

I am fortunate that I am located about 10-15 minute drive from my dealer and can home demo gear easily. I have been fortunate that I have never been disappointed with any Naim gear that I had a home demo with and then purchased.

There have been items I demoed at home an have not purchased that have been highly praised by others on the forum. It does not mean they do not sound good, just not in my room, with my system and my ears.

Yeah, I had a good dealer for years in Chicago but itā€™s a Naim desert in a literal desert here in Scottsdale. I will do a dealer demo at some point in conjunction with some travel. Iā€™m not in a huge hurry but I donā€™t know how long I can hold out. And Iā€™m still not certain which path to take, 250NC first or 222 first. Iā€™m not ready to take the plunge on all three boxes thatā€™s for sure. Iā€™ll buy a new Ducati before I do that.

No itā€™s not. Itā€™s in the eating of the pudding.

Sorry. I had to get that off my chest :grinning:

I just thought a Nait 2 more interesting.
