The Naim New Classic range - Part 1

There are several dealers in Southern California, which is not too distant.
At least one of them has a 60-day return policy which can be used as a home demo period.
They are happy to do it as long as you are not doing it continuously :innocent:
Probably worth a telephone call and a chat

Yeah, my Ovators came from Venice Audio iirc. They could be an option. Hopefully mail order is an option since I donā€™t have a local dealer.

But that doesnā€™t tell us anything about the performance of the streaming section of the NSC222.

I know itā€™s utterly selfish of me but I canā€™t wait for the 300 series to hit the shelves and bring that 500DR closer to my grasping hands :grimacing:

The trade in offers I got were a joke. Yes I could get a bit more privately but I chose to keep the amps and speakers which are fine and as good as new after a service and recap plus new tweeters. Personally I would rather spend my life savings on other things. Finish off the house and travel around a bit. The new basement listening room needs to be finished. I only recently dabbled in streamers with the Auralic, so better streaming source is likely.

Shame on you :joy::rofl:

Been having a cheeky look online, canā€™t see anything on the new amps (good job at keeping images offline this time round Naim  )ā€¦ but looks like Focal have a Porche at the show?

Not sure I asked about how one should spend savings :man_shrugging: but thanks anyway.
Your hifi dealer sounds like my car dealer when it comes to ā€œinsulting trade in valuesā€.
Good luck with new streamer and controlling any doubts your amplification maybe holding it back!

With a swing or a rocking chair? (couldnā€™t resist!)

This was not my dealer. It was another dealer who I will never go back to.

There are many things that ā€œhold things backā€. If there is one thing Iā€™ve learned about this hobby is that it is an important means to an end, where it is best not to get too obsessed about it. For sure swapping everything to the new classics would be good, but itā€™s not going to make me unhappy if I stay with what I have. If I donā€™t hear a sizeable improvement then I wonā€™t buy anything. Simple

A Fraim update. 4 legs instead of 3.
That middle channel output on the new 250 suggests a change of set up orientation.

Might even get some good deals on a ND555ā€¦

Good point @Mike_S

Are you listening @Stu299 :joy:

Thereā€™s a new ND555/555PS here reduced from NZ$56,500 to $35,000 that hasnā€™t sold. You can also have an ND555 only for $35,000. I think folk just arenā€™t prepared to pay this sort of money now. And I expect the new 300ā€™s will be pretty expensive here.

Two six packs in the fridge, Iā€™m ready.

We shall find out tomorrow.

I think @Stu299 is too busy to respond at the moment. He is in a left-brained mode assessing all the details of what the non DR 500 and NDS are holding back in his system

What about the popcorn

This thread has to reach 10000 posts before part 2 starts

Thatā€™s a bit of a painful subject. My wife and daughter prepare that in my Mauviel pans and donā€™t clean it up. Every single time they keep it too long on the gas and it burns.

While most of us here have a decent income in order to buy the stuff we do, there are many around with very serious income, for whom Naim components are mere trinkets. Even on here there are people with Ā£200,000 systems who buy a single cable that costs as much as a Naim box. There is money out there, the problem is that itā€™s distributed far from evenly.
