A very interesting first impression from Tom Tom Audio on Instagram…
“Of course we know you should never listen straight out of the box but who could resist?? Even from cold we have been stunned at what these two boxes can do. They have an authority and sense of ease that we have never encountered at this point in the Naim product range, driving some serious £10k plus loudspeakers from Kudos and Focal with aplomb. These units have raised the bar substantially and rewritten the rules for what 12 grands worth of electronics are capable of, and we’ve yet to introduce the NPX 300…More thoughts to come, but suffice to say we are seriously impressed with what we have heard so far.”
I cannot for the life of me understand why Naim don’t do this. How hard could it be. Obviously it mustn’t affect SQ, but I’m sure the brains at Naim could easily deal with it.
Disappointing that the middle bit is Perspex, whatever way you look at it’s a cheap looking material and not even slightly tactile, I wonder why it’s not the same as the rest of the case work?
I’m afraid the SU went in part exchange. My wife would kill me if I retained another piece of HiFi kit. We have various Muso And Muso QB units as well.
No to the NDX2. The NDX2/SN3 was what I was originally going to buy but the New 200 Series was too tempting.
Ah so they are available NOW then? It wasn’t clear to me. Someone said they had to wait couple of months. Maybe some stores got limited stock for launch.
Fair enough, I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt until I see it in the flesh however I’ve never known plastic to look classy but that could be a matter of taste! As Mr.M outlined above there could be method in the madness!
Had a listen be it brief and to my ears the new 3 box was considerably better than my Nova / 250 dr setup ! so much so will probably be selling the Mrs car !
“ The NPX 300 is a new design of power supply, able to be connected to any 200 Series or 300 Series Naim Audio source product.”
“ The NPX 300 is capable of powering some Naim Audio products that are also compatible with the XPS power supply. In this scenario, the standby button on the NPX 300 will turn the source device off completely. Special adaptor cables available from Naim Audio will be required to connect these devices.
Logo brightness synchronisation is not supported in this configuration and the connected product is not capable of entering network standby.
To install, power off your source product and remove the link plugs. Connect the Type 3 and Type 4 adaptor cable to the device.”
