When I collected mine at the weekend my dealer had an over delivery of a few more, but thought that demand had been so good it wouldn’t be a problem finding homes for them
Its arrived! From the onset this is a nice amp, loads of detail and power, if it’s this good now roll on a couple of weeks of settling in.
Ooo, very nice photography Blackstar - I like the grain on the fascia in particular.
Glad you’re enjoying it straight out the box.
I can’t remember, what Rega is that and what speakers are you using?
@Murmur it’s a P6/Exact played through some Kralk Audio BC/1’s.
Second system in a very small room, but sounds lovely!
Great!
A Rega dealer near me thinks the P6 is the sweet spot in terms of price/performance.
Nice looking compact speaker.
Just had the call - mine is in!
Away for the weekend - shucks!
Will be picking it up on Monday - think I’m more looking forward to it than the 222/300/250?
It will then go into the office with DAC V1 and Wharfedale 12.0 Diamonds!
Just hope that lights not too bright?
To be honest it’s not as bright as I was expecting. I’d ordered some of those led covers (discussed earlier in thread) but I’m unsure if I’ll use them!
Got mine yesterday… hurrah……Have to wait for my LP12 to be serviced….booo
Can’t comment on the sound but…… the LED is nice…in on, and in standby,
In the dark it isn’t too harsh, doesn’t dominate but allows the light to shine through……in standby it’s a reminder that there is some current gently floating through. The white is not Dulux white but a bluey grey white, think ice(ice baby) blue if you like. To summarise then, this LED shines….
This amplifier is brilliantttttt! Great respect and a big THANK YOU to the whole Naim team that brought this product to life. Over the last few years, I have gone through many changes of amplifiers, looking for something that could replace my Supernait 1 and drive my beloved Dynaudio Contour 1.4LE speakers. After a recent adventure with the NAIT XS3, I reached a point where I started to think that at this level (price point), there is no real big upgrade that I could make, and it is all about small subjective sonic differences between different amplifiers. That was until yesterday when, finally, I connected my NAIT 50 driven by NDX1 (Spotify). The way it presents music just blows me away. It is like a third dimension added to the music. There is this holographic presentation of the scene no matter what kind of music/genre you are playing. For the acoustic/jazz music, vocals seem to be surrounded by the instruments, and it all matches in perfect timing. In the case of electronic music, the highs are just crisper, and the bass reaches another level that I did not experience before with these speakers. What surprises me mostly is that it reveals sounds that I could not hear before in records that I have been listening to for ages. The integrated phono stage is also amazing and beats my Lehmann Black Cube. When I see the above post suggesting that it can get better after burn-in time, I can’t believe it because I am already in my audio nirvana state.
That’s exactly what my dealer stated. To be honest I only bought it so I could listen to vinyl in the small man cave during lockdown when my wife didn’t want it on in the lounge!
Thats good - probably won’t be listening in the dark as it’ll be in the office. I’ve seen mention of the covers but had put off getting them till I could see for myself. Only sad side to the story is that I’ll be saying goodbye to my NAP 100! That along with the DAC V1 were my first Naim products…
Never thought when I got them that I’d now own the system/s that I do!
That’s another glowing review, and sounds like it is very competitive with the existing Naim integrated offerings, the XS3 at least. I won’t push you on that point, but great to read your thoughts
What turntable do you use with it?
This year I would think planar 3 anniversary is the sweet spot. Seems to be close to Planar 6 spec at a better price.
Good point. Amazing value. Would like to put one up against my Valhalla/Ittok LP12 in the office if there is time. Think the promo stops at the end of the year.
Still finding mine too bright, splashy and rather indistinct in more complex pieces, especially some female vocals.
Though I did discover a contributor to much of the brightness I was hearing. It doesn’t like the Hi-Line. Took this out and replaced it with an old lavender snaic, defo. some improvement.
Still doesn’t sound on to me though.Big soundstage, lush presentation, just very bright.
Perhaps it’s not a good match for your source, or speakers, or both?
It’s brighter than my 50-year old 12/160 but that’s hardly a surprise. Won’t know more until I try it in my main system.
Not heard a Naim 50 but that description not far off an Atom
I home demoed one the other week and found it lacking in the top end and a bit uptight and dark in presentation, the bass was strong with plenty of prat and the mids were OK with nice female/male voices.
Not sure if after more burn in it would of improved further, it was mainly the top end that was missing cymbals - high hats etc
sorta like me. No wonder I’m enjoying the amp.
this info would be super helpful - and so glad that its referenced here. my only issue with my 50 is how it lights up a dark room. would love to try these “led dimmer” things - but cant get the “screenshot” to open, or otherwise see the info on here. can someone post some search tips for how to find these - while staying within the parameters of what’s allowed, of course. thanks for any help.
