The new NAIT 50 Limited Edition

I have both ATC7 and 11. With the Nait 50 in a 3m x 3.5m room, I prefer the 11s

I’ve mentioned this pairing earlier but appreciate its quite a long thread now!
I feel the pairing is great (recommended by one of my dealers) fed by a Rega P6 in a second small room system. The 7 has a lot more bass /bottom end than I was expecting for such a small speaker but it never sounds false or booms. Mids are lovely too portraying female voices really well (N Sinatra, K Bush, S Denny etc). They’re very neutral and don’t overstate high for lows, mids for highs etc etc.
I certainly recommend them.

Could I ask is the first one the rectangular shaped one ?. I don’t know the history of the 7 ?.

I think so yes :+1:

Dealer not too far away from me.
I’ll get a demo…

yes the mk1 is the square one with full black baffle and grill covering the entire front, the mk2 is still square with a dark grey/black baffle that stands proud of the cabinet and the tweeter has a silver wave guide, the current mk3 being the easiest to drive has the curved cabinet.

Exactly, I’d expect these to work with medio SPL levels, with Nait50 into smaller rooms.

I clearly remember the mk1 vintage in my, then medio sized room, powered by a Nap250 setup, rather disappointing.

Love the fox cushion. We have two for our Borders to worry

Hi.
I am loving my new NAIT 50 and Planar 6 ND7 combo.
Anyone bypasssing the phono stage and using an outboard stage ?
I’m considering a MF Spartan 15 or similar (NJC or Slee) to try.
Thoughts welcomed

Yes, I’m using my Vertere Phono 1 with Hanna ML moving coil cartridge. I used to use these with a 52. I’m very happy with the Phono 1 (into Aux)/N50 combination.

I think the phono stage is comparable to a good Graham Slee , I think Graham Slee produce products with a very good sound.

My Graham Slee phono stage is upstairs and I did not trade it in, when I moved to a Nait 50

Same here James. I’m finding i’m listening more to my office system of Linn turntable/NDX into the Nait 50 and SBLs than my bigger Olive rig. Reminds me of way back and the pure enjoyment of music i got with my first Linn/Nait1/Kans. Somehow over the years with bigger ā€˜better’ systems, i lost that. I could very easily sell everything else so long as i kept a decent source, the Nait50 and SBLs…. it’s that good.

Likewise :+1:
Are you using MM straight into phono Gary?

Yes indeed, and very good the magnet stage is.

My first Naim Amplifier it’s only taken 35 years up to this point. Now unwrapped and warming up with some play time in the bedroom system prior to making space room downstairs.

I sensed it was good, just not got an outboard stage to B2B…
Thanks for confirming

What’s your first impression

First impressions sonically are positive the N50 is different from what I’m used to (8W 300B tube amp last three years in my main system) but surprisingly not as much as I thought it would be. Only around six hours on the clock so still early days probably benefit from some running in time yet.

Bugs so far no actual power off switch just into standby where the on off function would have I think benefitted from a soft start/relayed power up and a bit more space between the phono inputs would have been nice.

The N50 was a bit of a educated impulse purchase I had been thinking about one of the Supernaits and have been lurking and following the forums here for about a year noticing the cross chat between the different models I just happened to be browsing the clearance section at Peter Tyson and noticed they have some deep discount on open box

I’ve had a number of open box items from them in the past and they all have been sealed new items on arrival so took the plunge the Nait 50 was the same when it arrived this morning all wrapped up new in box.

Beautiful day here outside sun is shining lots of bird song etc feels like spring is on the way at last.

A week of use with minimum of 12 hours running a day mainly streaming but also cd+scad and LPs so the phono stage is also seeing a hour or two a day as well probably split 80/20 speakers and headphones use.

This had done wonders for this little amp there has been a noticeable sonic improvements across the board.

Really pleased with the progression so far maybe further gains to come as the hours continue to build.

What have other owners experiences as the hours build is there a rough number where any sonic improvements tends to plateau?

Cheers
Jamie

I think mine was at peak performance by 6 weeks, and now rock solid.
