In general, Iām a big fan of Rega phonostages with Rega cartridges. So I would say the first one to try with your Exact is the Fono MM.

Got my Nait 50 today, canāt believe how good this little box is. Had it playing for a couple hours today and straight out the box its so good. The only fly in the ointment is hum through the speakers, obviously a ground earthing issue.
At the price I couldnāt resist, so glad Iām very weak sometimes.
Itās a super match for my Spendor A1ās, I thought it may be underpowered, but it drives them without flinching.

Try connecting the earth terminal of the N50 to the mains block/socket earth.

Is the case of the N50 not earthed?
Not sure technically, may be someone knows this in more detail, I get hum when I connect the TT only (nothing with the Atom HE) and it goes completely silent when grounded from the dedicated terminal.

Iām trying really hard to think of a way that I could use a Nait 50 since they can be bought new for very little currently, but that isnāt going to last. I am very tempted.

Has anyone compared the Nait 50 with the Lejonklou Boazu (2) as they seem similar in concept?
No. The NAT05 XS was discontinued in 2017.

I hesitated until I couldnāt resist any longer even though I didnāt really have a use for it. In the end, I decided to use it to replace the Atom in my small office though that meant extra expenditure on a DAC ā the only downside for me.

I have not heard the Nait 50 but have owned quite a bit of Naim gear over the last thirty years. I currently own a Boazu 2.
The Nait 50 has a transformer, headphone input, built in MM phono, and no remote. The Boazu has four line level inputs that are each live at all times, switch mode power supply, no headphone input, and a remote.
I have the highest regard for both Naim and Lejonklou gear, but the āhouse soundā of each are quite different in my opinion. The right choice is what sounds best to you. I suspect these two integrateds are both very good, but noticeably different.

Thanks for your detailed reply. By similar in concept I meant that they are both āstripped-backā lower powered integrated amplifiers presumably with a more āpureā focus when compared with other amplifiers. They both achieve this through different approaches. Interesting feedback on the Boazu 2 - are you pleased with it?
I think a big point of difference is that the 50 is consciously āretroā, evoking nostalgia for the chrome bumper era. For many on here I suspect its appearance is a major part of its appeal. Certainly for me it does look very good, likely better than the Boazu and certainly better than any of Naimās current crop of integrateds.

Yep, I wonder if it would get the same sonic accolades if it was in a standard black classic case, but to be fair I have yet to hear a 50.

that is a good question. I suspect it could if it offered the same performance and cut down usability features and the same sort of price, but its appeal is clearly is small size and simplicity coupled with its phenomenal performance .. so perhaps notā¦

I suspect you are correct. It is the sq for size that makes it. The added nostalgia of the cb helps but I suspect it is the form factor that sells it more. I have leant that way with the Goldnote and now thinking of the small form Auralic devices, no CB but same form factor.
