I had a WiiM Ultra but have gone to a Node Icon….
The difference is incredible and I’d been a digital streaming cynic for a long long time…

Not foolish.. and things can only get better with better sources in the future if you desire.
I use a DAVE as my main source and it is outrageously good with the N50… it’s got no right to sound so insightful and inviting .. and I am sure neither was designed to work specifically with each other.

Not at all surprised at that story. One of the things the N50 can do is wake up “sleepy” speakers (as @MaxBertola put it, I think). I thought my Neat Iotas were pretty good when I ran them with my Atom, but the Nait, with WiiM and Chord Qutest showed just how much more they had to give.

I’ve been running in both of the N50s here - one is mine, now in my main system, and one is my son’s which I’m burning in for him with a second system in my office whilst he’s away.
Both are sounding fantastic. The 85-90db “harshness” I reported earlier has not been repeated across any other music today, be that vinyl, CD or Qobuz.
My son has left a great playlist of his stuff and a mini-stack of vinyl & CDs of shoe-gazey, US hardcore and nu-metal bands. Music I’m not normally inclined towards but it’s fun to discover.
Nearly all of this sounds great on both N50s!
My own choices, too. What a great amp!
