The Reggae Thread

@steviebee
Hi Steve, is the vinyl version you have a single or double?
Thanks
:grinning:

Hi Dread!
Double LP.
Sorry still haven’t got round to a direct comparison. I’ll get it done soon!

Malcolm X has become my daily song. When I’m not playing it, I’m singing it! Fab.

No worries Stevie, I mistakenly thought they were single vinyl LP’s hence my comment about playing time and reduced SQ
Glad your enjoying it, big up yourself!

If you love the Blues get this album, if you love Reggae get this album, if you dont like either still get it.

Great album. Great voice. The outstanding tracks imo are:
Here Comes Trouble, Eternal Fire & Jah Is There.

Cheers

Yes indeed Hamiltonz, gotta love Chronnix and all the new breed of roots oriented artists.
Positive!

:sunglasses:

One of Chronnix first breakthrough tunes.
News Carrying Dread, referencing Jacob Miller and Inner Circles classic Tenement Yard

:sunglasses:

Another example of Chronnix referencing the past whilst moving forward in fine style. .

The Blood & Fire set is good I have it although the tapes weren’t in great shape and some dubbed from disc IIRC.
Heres what it says on the sleeve notes

The Blood & Fire CD version also IIRC offers some extra tracks dubbed from original 12" vinyl.
Top dollar prices for the original UK Go Feat label pressing
Btw VP released a 40th Anniversary set which includes an alternative Black Ark mix of the album, I haven’t heard it…

Peckings? I’ll look it up. Still going?

Pretty much, I only ever bought reggae from a few little shops around Hackney. Sadly, all gone…including the one I used to live two doors down from.
Great times: wake up to the riddim!

Yes, Peckings Studio One is legendary I posted about it sometime back. Yes still going The Peckings label now puts out lots of records with current artists utilising old Studio One & Treasure Isle riddim tapes.
