You are on the wrong thread
Awesome. If I owned them (as if!) I think I’d go for a ‘Stonehenge’ and have them in a circle, cables innermost of course…
Switch that on and the main house fuse blows!
Read more carefully - it’s six power amps
So it’s 3 pairs.
To power Sound Labs Ultimate speakers and its subwoofer.
Was part of the buy six, get one free offer. Didn’t you see it?
Where’s the SNAXO?
Claude
I had assumed that it was the Australian surround sound system where someone uses one for each channel (if I remember correctly)
Here the original press review. I don’t think it’s multichannel. Sound Labs speakers are enormous.
Blimey!
No Snaxo here. You can read the link I posted to Tim above.
I see. I can only try and imagine what his system sounds like… and how much it cost him!
Claude
I simply cannot get my head round, what makes anyone buy a speaker design that difficult to drive, but of course if money is no object and you’ve got a dedicated listening space big enough to accommodate the hardware!?
A wee update:
The S1 seems to have now settled without any major ups and downs. Following the ‘ opening- up’ process is most enjoyable with everything seemingly sounding more ‘right’ somehow, or as good old Bluesfan says; ‘delicious’. Soundstage is also expanding in equal measure Nah Dusty, you don’t want 1… Best Peter
Maybe in fact the best way of describing the slow improvement is that the insightfulness is on the increase.
Maybe it’s a different one from that which I remember (a bit vaguely now) but still Australia. The one I remember was a cinema surround system. A present from a wife to a husband
All is possible. I remember a high end system with 8 big like Magico speakers with 8 Boulder amps.
We can see that often in China today. I sometimes read Mono and Stereo site, with some crazy stuff.
It is his destiny - he just does not want to admit it. The man asked me a few years ago it the S1 Pre would be a good upgrade…
DB.
I wonder how to connect the 6 pack ? split the XLR cables ?
That s1 is so pretty. I remember seing a statement in person, I keep staring at it. But at the same time I know I can’t hear it cuz it is not on at that time and the poison will get ahead of me (not able to control myself and want to keep upgrading) the pic is taken way back when I went to the shop.
Clearly the Dark Bear in that room of bling. ATB Peter
Hi Peter
So I guess your S1 will stay and you fell deeply in love with it. At least that’s what happened to me. I had mine delivered exactly on my birthday last March. Je ne regrette rien
Before that I had seriously upgraded my system going active with 500s I was very certain that nahhh an s1 can’t be so much better that a 552 naims finest and most highly praised pre with holy grail status. Just remember how many raving 552 reviews have been written over all those years. Conversely not so much has been said over statements around already since 2014. They seemed not so suited for long time naimiacs having refined their systems over some decades. I have to admit I thought of statement more suited for those oligarchs with little musical taste who pop in ask for the best and pay cash. And then how to fit it in a fraim ? Doesn’t comply with the astetics of nice black boxes on nice shelves. So my tempt to try out anS1 in the context of my system was fueled mostly by self inflicted assurance it can’t be much better by a significant margin. OMG how wrong I was. About a year ago I had a demo unit on trial at home and the difference was immediately imminent. Its far from subtle it’s nothing less than fundamental. It just made clear that even a 552 can become a bottleneck at a certain point. I’d rate the S1 pre among naims finest kit on offer yet for an obscene price. So it’s really good to see it her? finally become more mainstream integrated within other long standing systems and am sure you are in full delight …
