Wonderful music, dreadful film!
Soundtrack to a series rather than a film, but this double CD contains some seriously good music. I appreciate none of the tracks were written for the series, but nonetheless the matching of the music to the script is an art in itself.
@MrUnderhill Your list is pretty much mine, so great choices!
With the help of my son, who has collected many soundtracks, here are a few that we think are worthy of investigation. I discovered most of these when I was driving us somewhere, with his Sony music player bluetoothed into the sound system, I would ask what was playing (keeping my eyes on the road). Occasionally, it would be from a Game, so I have added these too. Our Top 5 / Others.

Nice selection, there’s a lot to listen to!

I would suggest Joker as well:
Also Whiplash is great, yet I don’t think the album is recorded properly, it sounds a bit harsh and digitalized (at least from Tidal). I wonder if it’s just me or there’s an actual problem.
The soundtrack to the film, Meet Joe Black. Most of the music is composed by Thomas Newman. I’ve never seen the film. I discovered the soundtrack after part of the music was used, I think, in some sort of advertisement for the teaching profession. I searched on the internet and found that this piece of music was from the Meet Joe Black soundtrack. It’s a lovely soundtrack album.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m not sure, but I think I’ve watched this video before. However, as I really enjoy soundtracks, it’s always very interesting to understand how a soundtrack is composed and why it’s created in a certain way, it’s so fascinating.
Chernobyl is very unique. I haven’t watched the series yet, but this soundtrack is distinctive and very different from others. In some cases I know movies better from their soundtrack rather than anything else.
If you are interested, there’s also this video where she talks about Joker as well:
A quirky film very much set over the changing era of old school jazzy 50s to trendy rock 60s.
But an interesting flick enough to repeat watch every so many years, and the music is very entertaining as an offspring album, with an inclusion of input from a very young Jimmy Page during the same year that led zeppelins were invented.
It’s a very good film, one of Mrs AC’s favourites, perhaps a bit of a tear-jerker chick-flick but deals with eternal themes.
Perhaps we should actually watch the film!
Taking your understanding of soundtracks, I actually have just one to add. Not because there is my favourite among others - it’s just the only one I have. So, for sure, in first row
I think outside Germany the film has been named “Run Lola Run”.
When I was on a long walk today, I suddenly thought of Almost Famous - A great Film and excellent soundtrack. The sequence with the cast singing along with ‘Tiny Dancer’ is wonderful.
I came across this soundtrack watching a commercial. Then I ended up buying both the CD and the documentary in blu-ray.
Nicest tracks, for me at least, are: “Arrival of the Birds”, “The Dance”, “Soda” and “Transformation”.
Clockwork Orange
My very 1st soundtrack purchase. I’m not really a fan of the film, but the music here, definitely.

Not a fan of Kubrik, but there are surely some interesting tracks!
What about Ocean’s Eleven? David Holmes has quite a unique style.
