The Super Bedrock

Rega follows the path of Linn Lp12 Bedrock, but on another scale.

The [Grand Analog Electric PHONOGRAPH is a synthesis of fine art, concert grand piano making, and above all cutting edge mathematical science with a balance of form and proportion that is derived from golden ratio, prime numbers and Fibonacci sequence geometry: the natural laws of physics and mathematics at the heart of its design.
HOUSING AND MATERIALIZATION: Padouk solid wood (no chipboard, no MDF and no HDF panels, no veneers and no veneer layer panels), height-adjustable copper panels, exo-skeleton with copper inlays, 19-fold applied transparent high-gloss lacquer (not colour-pigmented.

Cool. Made me take a look at their website. I do wonder how much they charge for a 53kg block of wood

The NAIA is inserted in the hole.

At first glance, sitting a Naia in a 53-kg block of wood appears at odds with Rega’s design philosophy of eliminating vibration by eliminating things to vibrate.

I’m surprised that Rega allowed it, assuming of course that they did.

Rather interesting given Rega’s design ethos is the exact opposite of high mass…

I can only assume this is written as a joke.

Apparently not. It’s a direct quote from the Grand Analog Electrics website:

They explain :
« The turntable base forms a protective cellar for the REGA NAIA. It ensures that no matter which approach to sound dissipation is used (as light and/or as heavy as possible), this concept makes full use of it. Structure-borne and airborne sound components are thus absorbed to the maximum. Vibrations of less than 0.000003 mm/s are absorbed. At very low frequencies of less than 0.1 Hz, there is practically no relative movement between the mass and the housing.
Compared to a conventional CD output signal, the voltage of an MC system is one 10,000th (0.35 mV). To prevent the electromagnetic field of the power supply from contaminating the low voltage of the MC cartridge, a precisely calculated distance was chosen between the power supply tunnel and the turntable protection compartment. Thomas Alva Edison’s phonograph and Emil Berliner’s gramophones further modulated and influenced the overall design of the record player base.«

What a load of bollocks. The best place for a Naia is Rega’s wall shelf, which weights virtually nothing.

Please don’t post unauthorised commercial links here, thanks.

I have no idea. Do you think it makes no sense ?

In German, does not help.
We don’t know if it’s a Rega collaboration with this German brand or not.

Next will be that :

Yep.
