The The

Maybe a little esoteric but any The The fans out there. The latest album is very good.

Didn’t Pete Townsend almost join The The at the beginning before changing his mind?

Hi Gary,

Yep Im a fan. Saw them live around about the time of the Infected album.

I have only played the new once so far but it is really good and far better than I was expecting.

Prem.

Thanks for the heads up, Gary. I lost interest in The The after Dusk, but will give this one a listen :+1:

They are touring at the moment.
A friend went to a gig a few weeks ago at holmfirth, said it was very good.

They’ve bought tickets for another gig.

I haven’t listened to Mind Bomb in forever, time to give it a spin. Thanks for the reminder :+1:

Played the new one the other night and enjoyed it. Soul Mining brings back memories of my student years!

Got back from holiday this morning and I’m warming my system back up listening to this album…It’s rather good.

Thanks again Gary :+1:

You are welcome, I may even get it in vinyl as it’s really good!

The The’s Infected reminds me of the Summer of '87. I had a Summer holiday job couriering in the City for a law firm (Norton, Rose, Botterell & Roche). In those good old days you could still drive in and stash the car somewhere nearby without incurring any big parking fees or fines. On the cassette deck in the car was The The’s Infected. So imagine my surprise when one of the other couriers told me that Matt Johnson’s brother worked at the firm! I spent lunch breaks plotting how I might bump into him and then ask him for some gig tickets. Of course, after all that I never met him, although someone did tell me that I had passed him in one of the corridors while I was heaving around box after box of legal papers…

I need to dig out my The The vinyl LPs and give them a listen. It has been a while.

Soul Mining (1983) is an old favourite.
Playing “Uncertain Smile”, as I write…

Fantastic bit of “plinky plonk”. All seven minutes of it.

Great album.

That’s a great track. The weather’s been a bit dodgy here the last few days, so it’s been a good opportunity to revisit some old The The favourites.

Matt Johnson’s voice is still in fine form on the latest album, as is his song writing.

Lyrically intelligent for sure.
