Oooh…Jungmann!
Absolutely beautiful Bucker Jungmann being tossed around in a terrific display on Sunday.
Another set of great photo’s ![]()
Have you ever had your photo’s published ? if not, you deserve to be.
No I haven’t. But thank you very much.
I love the biplanes. My great uncle Eric, an RAF pilot, was killed when his biplane got caught up in a sandstorm in Persia many years ago. I have his watch which my father’s grandfather had custom made for him, in a small shop in Cheapside. It had special seals in it to keep the sand out.
Stunning. If it’s not too much of a faff, pls could you add camera, lens & exposure info ?
Thx… Paul
Sure, I was getting to grips with my brand spankers EOS R5 mkii and using an EF 100-400 mkii lens with a 1.4x mkiii TC added too.
My older 300 2.8 IS mkii gives better results but the lightness and flexibility of the zoom is a bonus, I tend to swap between the two each time but not carry both.
Jets tend to be shot at 1/1000 plus, props at 1/250 or 1/320, slower for slower planes though. If the light’s good enough, try to keep at f8 and ISO ‘under control’
A while since I’ve seen this bird in the air. She flew over the crowdline initially which was a nice surprise and bonus (for the first pic) given the light at Duxford is otherwise tricky with the sun in front of you and to the right when aircraft come along the usual flightline (pic 2).
Sat on the tarmac at La Gomera airport is an Air Tractor AT802A fire plane. It arrives in June, the pilot takes it for a spin about once a week and the aircraft normally leaves when the fire risk to the Garajonay forest decreases in Autumn. The aircraft carries 850 US gallons of water.
What the pilot does with the rest of his time, who knows.
Did not know they had an airport……most get ferried across from Tenerife?
Yes, the airport has a 1500m runway for inter island turboprops, About 4 flights per day with very few people on board and a terminal building about the size of a cathedral.
I believe they did trial some 737s a one point, but it scared the sh@t out of the pilots and they couldn’t take off fully fuelled.
Looks like wind shear could be a bit of a problem.
