The Website

The website is not handled by Naim, so while Cedric M (site director of Naim in Salisbury) is well aware of the issue, there’s not much he can do about it. He just needs to let the team in France (and the website hosts in the US) get on and resolve it.

Reassuring to see that the careers page is up

Richard even posting site under construction is better than what’s happening, leads to all sorts of bs.

Absolutely Pete, this point was made early on, but for some reason it hasn’t happened, whether because the issue means it hasn’t been possible, or something else. Best not speculate though without knowing the facts.

I’m in for some new products and a rework of the website

This thread has been brought to you by mumsnet…

I hear what you say Richard but we both know what I mean.

It was Cedric Magnaud when we visited last year. Do we have a new Cedric? Un Cedric nouveau?

Exactly. To be brutally honest, if they are okay with letting this slide, they are okay letting other things slide and that is a major concern that will I will probably not be able to shake off now.

I feel like buying Naim after this would be like buying hifi from people who struggle arranging piss ups in breweries.

A good few years ago now my missus was the Global Website Editor for BA.com Back in those days BA were often slow in settling accounts with suppliers thanks to a rather bureaucratic approach in the purchasing dept. Anyhow, it turns out that the smallish USA based web hosting company who hosted the entire site had evidently been getting fed up with not being paid, so they pulled the entire site offline on Christmas Day… No ticket sales, no checkin, just a 404 error or whatever when you tried to access the site. Now even back then millions of pounds an hour in sales were going through BA.com, not to mention the fact that people were unable to check-in online etc.

My wife’s phone began ringing on Christmas morning like nothing else with calls from airport directors, operations managers, sales managers, IT managers etc. She spent the next couple of hours trying to get to the bottom of the problem and eventually ended up speaking to the CEO of the web hosting company on Christmas Day at home pleading with him to reinstate the site with a guarantee that she would personally knock heads together and ensure the invoice was paid on the next working day when the purchasing dept were open. Thankfully he agreed and all was well, but it certainly made for an interesting and somewhat exciting Christmas morning!

David had rather impressively got the attention of goliath - needless to say it didn’t happen again!

Money talks and all that…

Great post. I would also add that the website issues does not affect the superb sounds coming from my NSC222 + NAP250.

It’s Naims problem not yours, all the ‘tut tutting’ makes for cringeworthy reading. It’s not even an e-commerce site, it’ll be back when it’s back.

In the spirit of NAIT50 it’s the anniversary version of the website.

The website seems to be back on line now.

Thank goodness for that, wasn’t looking forward to another weekend without a functioning Naim forum.

There are eddies in flux everywhere at the moment and another dimming was just proving a bit much for my fragile psyche.
