Sorry been off the sir for s few days, hope everything is OK. ![]()
Testing is ongoing this weekend and a few more days
The question is; Will this be worse, as good, or better than the Cyrus Classic which I will hopefully have the opportunity to test next week ![]()
I don’t remember interviews?
My 9 monthly blood test showed the cancer was still in abeyance.
Trying to engage the clinic with troubles surrounding the repeated and longer lasting bouts of what I have always been told is radiation cystitis. I would imagine passing cider vinegar would be more comfortable. Not a urinary tract infection. We have tried nerve blockers in the past so unless the pharmaceutical world has come up with a male version of Canestan ointment I think it will be ‘grin and bear it’!
Thanks Max, I managed to sell my house. I’m currently waiting to hear from the top of my vendor’s chain when they’ll be ready for her, current target completion date is 5th December. I’m currently at my sister’s with my possessions in storage.
It wasn’t an actually interview in my case.
It seems if you apply for a fast track passport renewal online, you are required to make an appointment and take your old passport to your local office.
The quarenteed delivery is based on when you take your old passport into the office.
Today I’ve removed the rear axle beam and trailing arms. More of the ‘restorers’ crap has appeared. These were new-old-stock genuine Ford bushes. The beam was also supposed to be powder-coated too but clearly isn’t.
The trailing arm bushes are misaligned too. The voids are supposed to be in line with the seam of the arm. These days it’s easy to take a photo before removing/dismantling anything, the other side is in a different position but still not right so I can conclude that they simply pushed the bush in the hole with no thoughts of how it worked. ![]()
Max, I can fully understand that. Essentially we all choose our own way to deal with issues. Sharing doesn’t make one more of a hero. One has to find an inner peace.
I watched ‘Benediction’, which was on BBC late last night and is about the life of Siegfried Sassoon. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but nonetheless interesting. I was very taken by the bits involving Wilfred Owen. Owen’s poem ‘Disabled’ was beautifully conveyed. Sassoon’s war poems also. The film certainly explained Sassoon’s plea for a negotiated settlement to WWI.

I’m bit sore from lots of chainsawing this week, so with clear skies, today I decided to give it a rest and tick off a couple of jobs I needed to do on the dog wagon; an air filter change and swapping out the ABS/DSC pump for a 2nd hand replacement so I can get mine sent off for refurbishment. Neither job is particularly easy on the big turbodiesel engine, but certainly the pump extraction and re-fitting is made a just a little easier if all the things are removed from the engine compartment that you need to remove for an air filter change, so…
Tomorrow I’m cooking lunch, but hope to get some time to bleed the brakes before the sun goes down or the rain arrives…
So Amazon delivered something in just over 8 hours from me ordering it and want me to say how my delivery was.
8 hours from order to delivery is amazing.
But as usual the driver just left it on the outside door mat and drove off without knocking or ringing the doorbell. Also it was left in full view from the road whereas it could have easily been moved to the left or right a couple of feet and been safer.
So do I give it a 5 for a fast delivery or a 1 for a rubbish delivery or, what I will probably choose, ignore the request to rate the delivery?
I always rate that as low as possible…….do not ask, if you do not like the answer. If we like it or ignore, it will get worse, just my opinion.
I am currently having most of the Amazon delivery drivers leave items on the doorstep, whilst reporting that it has been handed to the customer. I am making repeated complaints about this, partly for the lying and partly because the safe space is right next to the front door. Some of the drivers put it in there, whilst others can’t be bothered. Unfortunately for them, I can be bothered to make a complaint if I am stuck indoors on a rainy day. Good drivers have always got a compliment from me, and now the rubbish drivers get honest feedback rather than me not giving any response to the delivery feedback question.
If they knocked on everybody’s door wouldn’t the deliveries be much slower. ![]()
Was it a high value item?
One delivery firm (can’t remember which) left my Christopher Ward watch on the doorstep. I did let CW know.
It would be a bit slower…….but i know of people that then take the parcel in claiming it was stolen. We then all pay for that long term.
It was only £60 of value. But it does annoy me that they put it right in front of the door instead of to either side and don’t bother to knock. I don’t expect them to wait to hand it to me, although some delivery companies do, even when I don’t have to sign for it. Amazon is basically crap at the actual delivery process.
Contrary to what people seem to think about the company, our Evri guy is one of the best. The worst is DHL which recently delivered a box of wine to the same house number but in a different street, half a mile away. Royal Mail/Parcel Force are good, mostly.
Yep…..same here, the Evri guy is a gem.
We’ve got a good bunch down here, but then we are in leafy southern Hampshire. It may well be that the “city” guys are more stretched.
Well I’m in leafy Surrey, so there isn’t a city-vibe here to excuse them!
Likewise. I get asked to give him reviews periodically and as my wife orders stuff most days (!) I written many.
They have got increasingly more ridiculously positive having run out of stars to award ages ago- the most recent one was along the lines that “he is so amazing that he’s now part of our family and moving in with us for Christmas”
I am not sure if he gets to see them - but he’s always very friendly.
Had a letter recently from the finance part of the car dealers, telling us that our contract runs out at the end of March, and giving us the options of buying, walking away or a new contract. An email with offers made us consider spending capital, or continuing to fund it out of income for a few more years.
Visited the dealers yesterday, and were dealt with a familair face, which helped. Then, a guy walked past and said hello, who I thought I knew, so when Tom came back I asked him. The guy used to work there before the dealership changed hands, and had sold done us a mega deal back in 2021. He had lost 8 stone, we conversed, and he asked about us, we explained our medical issues, and then he told us about his leukamia when he was 9 years old, and showed us photos of a bald stick kid in hospital, with celebreties doing their bit. All quite moving that he shared that with us. When the sums were done, we were not happy, but when I said I didn’t want white, black or red, he did a search, and got a blue for a fair bit less, so we went for that. We left them with hand shakes and a lot of best wishes for better health, hobbled out and drove home. Ridiculously bought another car in less than an hour. New shape Honda CRV, petrol hybrid, with option of charging as well. Lots of new tech, cameras and auto parking etc, seems okay. The guy that we knew had been working for Volvo until recently, and said that the equivalent XC-60 was £70K, but he prefers the Honda at 50K. Hmm, are we daft, quite possibly, but we can’t take it with us.
