Another glorious Derbyshire walk - down down down from Crich to the Cromford canal, up and over the High Peak trail (disused railway linking the NW to the canal system) back on the Midshires Way, pint in the Canal Inn Bullbridge then the long slog back up to Crich and more beer.
The canal is such an impressive bit of late 18c engineering - contouring the hillside above the (later) railway and river and later crossing both. It’s heyday barely lasted 70 years.
Listening to Stevie Wonder from afar in the garden - thought it was the local pub band/disco but seems he’s playing not that far away. Oasis and Slayer last week.
Wonderful to feel I don’t have my finger on the cultural pulse so to speak.
When I visited Sarah this afternoon, she had the OT, Issy, giving her hand a workout. Sarah is being discharged tomorrow, both of us a little anxious, it’s a big change. Issy had created a booklet of execises to continue, using photographs of Sarah exercising, clever, showing that she can do them. Packed some bags to bring back and put them in the car. Texted Ben and said that I would pick him and Laura up at 10.30am in the morning, as Sarah is ringing the bell at 12pm, and we need to pack the car beforehand. We will get a detailed pack tomorrow of all information we should need. Although she has been coming home each weekend, this feels a lot different. There will be a lot of patients and staff there tomorrow to say goodbye, it’s going to be rather emotional.
Took me about 4hrs today. This morning this was nearly black. I was tipped off that a wet foam cleaner works well and you can get into the cracks. It works.
I found the makers name which proves that was made before 1861. It should be one of a pair, but I only ever remember seeing this one as a child. Earned my glass of wine this evening.
I hope it’s all gone well today Max, if you shed a manly tear as she left you deserve the emotional release, your whole family has been amazing through this long haul.
It has been a very emotional day, we are exhausted, and the weather doesn’t help. I will post tomorrow on what happened, as there was such a wonderful moment, that I need to give it justice.
Sarah is now home, and we will see how we move on.
Good detail tomorrow, worth waiting for.
Thanks for persevering with us.
I had an engine management glitch warning on my dashboard yesterday and luckily I saw @Guinnless posts which reminded me that I bought an OBDll to fix an issue on my old Merc ages ago and just forgot about it. Thankfully I managed to clear the error codes and now it is running smooth, saving a trip to the garage and a few pounds along the way.
Cheers Guinnless!
