Tidal dropped annual subscription

My annual subscription is about to come to an end, so went to the online website and it was showing renewal as £10.99 per month. No option for annual subscription, so I emailed them, and within two hours got the following response

On April 10, 2024, TIDAL updated its pricing globally. Subscribers were given access to all of TIDAL’s current streaming features, including premium audio formats, under a single subscription tier named TIDAL.

As part of this process, we removed the annual plan that we previously had, and it is not available anymore.

This is disappointing as it worked out cheaper overall, but I suppose it means some might take short breaks when they are not using it for a while

This tier now includes everything that used to be in the 20 Euro tier, so there is some compensation at least. Especially with the new firmware

Very true. Tidal Max (especially now on Naim gear) is a big plus

Looks like it’s £13.99 a month!

That’s quite odd, here on the pricing page now:

And thats also the price of my sub.

Why would the UK sub be so much more?

VAT, “Rip Off Britain”. Take your pick.

Let’s not create drama when it’s not needed. The monthly cost in the U.K. is £10.99. That’s what I pay and that’s what’s advertised.

So that’s just VAT then and no mystery. EUR10.99 is about GBP9 which is GBP11 inc VAT.

It nearly costs the same.

The Euro price also includes VAT. Tidal prices are $10.99, €10.99 or £10.99, which makes the U.K. more expensive. But it is what it is.

Vat in EU zone is included too. In Finland currently 25,5%. Is Apple still charging their fee if in-app purchases are used?

Are you getting your subscription via the phone app? I recall a while back that someone said that they were also paying more, and it turned out subscription via the phone app cost was higher than when you order via the browser online version of Tidal

Nowadays, Tidal has the same price regardless of where you search.

In which case @Tonedeaf should probably contact Tidal to check his prising unless it is just a hangover from when he first subscribed (if it was via the phone)

Are you looking via the Apple app store? Apple will happily cream off an extra £3 a month from you for the rest of time, for which you get sweet FA.
Just go to Tidal in a web browser to get the regular price.

I think @Tonedeaf has the family subscription selected?

It’s via the Tidal app. I had the subscription to Qobuz, I then compared it to Tidal on a free trial basis and preferring Tidal I cancelled Qobuz. I have been waiting for Naim to sort out the update before committing to Tidal but when I checked through the app it says £13.99 for the individual subscription!
I will check via the website and go from there.
Thanks everyone for your input :+1:t2:

Yeah that is it. Both on iOS and Android you will need to pay extra to Google or Apple these days. Never take a subscription there.

On the website you can get the proper rate. Even if you use the web browser on your phone you’ll get the good rate instead. Just not through the app.

Sign up on their website for £10.99. Then open Tidal in the Naim App and log in, using your email and the password you’ll have already selected when you set up your account.

So can I cancel my subscription via Apple, and continue vis payment direct to Tidal without losing my account settings ?

Sorted, thanks for your advice :+1:t2:
