I recently bought a used Naim Unitiqute 2. I am very happy with the sound, but I am having a problem with the Naim app. After several attempts, it does not accept the Tidal login details. It keeps saying that the username or password is incorrect. I can see it on the wifi network. The app is the latest version 8.0. I apologize for the bad English, I am using Google Translate.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Is the streamer firmware up to date? It should be on version 4.9.
Does your Tidal password include any ‘special’ characters that the Naim doesn’t like? You could try changing the password on the Tidal website, then use the new password to log in on the Naim app.
Thank you very much for your help, I checked the firmware and it is version 4.7, so it needs to be updated. I will take it to my local Naim service center soon where they will update it. I wish everyone a pleasant listening experience.
4.8 was a Tidal update that was required to incorporate changes to the login authorisation process, so that is likely to be your problem. You may as well go straight for 4.9 though.
Out of curiosity, I downloaded the firmware update description. I have a question about this: is it mandatory to use an ethernet cable during the update? I have a full Wifi system and my wifi switch is in another room, a wired connection would be problematic.
Thank you Chris SU. The Naim app is up to date 8.0 version.I’m currently waiting for a quote from the local Naim service. Maybe I can find out how to do it?
Naim always recommended that you should use a wired connection for updates because they are generally more stable, but it’s not essential. I’ve done lots of updates in the past with a laptop on WiFi and they always worked.
If you don’t want to risk it, buy a cheap long Ethernet cable from eBay and connect it temporarily for the update.
Thank you very much for the useful advice, I have a layman’s question. If I connect both devices to the output of my router with a cable, will they in principle see each other? I have a Wifi network, but my router has 5 ethernet ports. If so, do I need to configure anything else on the UQ2 besides the usual settings?
The update is installed in two stages, one part by the network and the other by USB. So although you have downloaded the update onto your computer, it needs both USB and network connections to be active.
The computer network connection can be either Ethernet cable or WiFi. So yes, if you use the (safer) Ethernet connection, plug the Uniti and computer into ports on your router.
If you don’t want to mess about with long Ethernet cables you could temporarily move the devices close to the router and use short patch cables.
Thank you very much for the advice, I managed to update the firmware a few minutes ago. Everything went smoothly, Naim’s software guys did a great job. I am so glad to be a part of such a supportive community. I wish all my lovely helpers and the community a pleasant weekend. Oh, and the sound quality is fantastic…
