Tidal login problems

Many thanks, but it shows how fragile and temporary this has become.

Tidal connect works for me but tidal doesn’t work within the Naim app, any ideas? Tried firmware updates and reinstalling app

Please read this thread there are various steps in trouble shooting

If you are on an apple device you must have a sufficiently up to date OS to be able to download the latest version of the Naim App. (7.51) to be able to log into Tidal on the App

So it will cause some customers to have to buy a new controller for their HiFi when using Tidal unless Naim have a faw to upgrade the legacy older App that still works otherwise on the older IOS devices.

All very well, but like many others here, I have a fully functioning iPad which also won’t update to IOS 16, If Naim are going to sell a device which only works via an app, then it should be developed, up to a point, to work with legacy devices.

Hi @Harleyandy

Nowadays Apple have a very strict policy on using the latest development tools for App Store submissions. To quote their latest submission guide:

“Starting April 2025, all iOS and iPadOS apps uploaded to App Store Connect must be built with the iOS 18 SDK.”

This inherently means older devices that are no longer supported by Apple will unfortunately turn into a tech-brick as apps get updated and are forced onto latest development tools. That means a device has a functional life of around 7 years.

At Naim there is nothing much we can do about it. Phone and tablet tech is a fast moving ‘use and recycle’ world, while quality Hifi lasts many factors longer,

Regards

Thanks for the info but I’ve tried updating my iPhone 16 pro to the latest iOS, removing the Naim app, rebooting my phone, reinstalling the app and trying again but I still get the infinite login loop. As an fyi, I have a NAD streamer and that can still access tidal via the NAD app with no updates or issues.

What exactly happens when you open the Tidal input in the Naim app? Can you browse the Tidal library? Can you see your own Tidal favourites and playlists?

Thanks for replying. No I can’t see any of my tidal favourites or albums etc. I can just see some generic playlists about jazz etc which isn’t ideal

If I search for music i get results from tidal but I can’t play any of the songs. All other devices access tidal with no issues

Found the issue. It was all Apple’s fault for the way it stored my tidal login details. I’m back up and running now.

Glad to hear you’re sorted, it did sound like a Tidal login issue.

I cannot login to Tidal on iPhone via Naim app. App is up to date.

However I can login to Tidal on an M2 Mac via the Naim app.

Anyone else?

Edit: problem has resolved itself.

I can login to Tidal on iPhone via the latest Naim app. My problem is that when I play an album through Tidal, the first song sounds perfectly fine but as soon as the next song starts to play, there is some lags and jitters. I have to stop the play or put my Nova in standby, of which I also see delay in response between the app and Nova. There is no issue playing songs from my uPnP server. There is no issue playing tidal through airplay. I am using iPhone 15 latest iOS (18.5). I tried resetting Naim back to factory default, reinstalled Naim app, switched wired network to wifi network. I am still getting the same problem…
