I would like to request the advice of my learned friends on the forum:
Which is the correct way to contain excess mains cable & speaker cable length?
To coil it up (circular), or to form it as a figure of eight shape, I have read differing advice on both forms in past years, but I believe there is a right, and a wrong way to do it.

I think fig 8 is the favoured method.

See picture:
Yes indeed, to “shorten” a length of speaker cable it should be folded not rolled. Rolling a cable adds inductance & although one or two turns won’t be significant, each circle (turn) adds to the sum & will cause the top end to roll off.
Folding, each half turn to the right followed by half a turn to the left cancels the inductance.
Folding with ty-wraps is good, this pic is Naim NACA5, I do the same with Cord Odyssey

The folds can of course be fewer and longer or more and shorter as needed
