Time for a change?

Next step is to add a little colour

Looking remarkably similar to the colour behind my system

Switched sockets. :flushed:
If the gear is good enough for a fraim I’d not pinch on connectivity.
Maybe just me or is there a reason. ?

If you read further up, you’ll see that the plan is to have the system on the side wall, using a dedicated spur that’s yet to be installed.

Nigel, this must be really exciting for you and Karen, a new start as it were. The new place looks lovely, with that high ceiling. Best wishes to you both.

We had our ASHP serviced yesterday and I checked the meter for electricity usage since installation 19 months ago - a total of 6500kWh (nearly two winters). So around 4000kWh pa which I thought is pretty good for about 2000 sq feet for heating and hot water (distorted by an electric range oven replacing oil fired one last April, plus a wood burner - and a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system)

You must have a well insulated and sealed property. I am looking into ASHP and expect to get the survey results shortly. The Gas is about 14,000kWh so 4,000kWh electricity maybe. Ours is 3000 square feet, but we don’t heat one zone except when we have visitors.

Simple, the AV stuff isn’t as important as the hi-fi and the sockets were already there. We already had the Fraim units, it was a shame not to use them.

Thanks Nigel, it’s our first place together, the last house was mine. It seems strange as I was there for a long time. We are in the new place now, we moved in today. No system yet, that will come at some future point. We have to turn it into a home now

It’s much more interesting than Grand Designs, there is a hi-fi involved :sunglasses:

@Polarbear
That clarifies thank you.

I was just suggesting since you had gone to the trouble and expense putting the AV stuff on a fraim I would have thought you might have treated it the same way as the hi fi for the sake of continuity and OCD possibly.

My well meaning comment was so that you could address it in case it had been overlooked before the installation became awkward to access later.

I know how fastidious you are about the system so just thought. :sunglasses: :+1:t2:

I am not so fastidious these days, I want a much simpler mains set up. The number of cables, plugs and sockets at the old place was ridiculous and overkill. I am much more laid back about it all.

Saying that, there will still be a lot of work involved, the Kudos speaker cable is hidden behind the rear wall, as is the HDMI’s for the AV set up and the coax cable for the NAT 01. I have installed a dedicated radio aerial for the tuner and the dedicated mains is still to come.

As you can see I have the rest of the Fraim installed, I just need the system back now

Are you going to change those FRAIM shelves, or are you deliberately going for an asymmetrical look?

The Fraim shelves are where they are going to be when the system gets back. It’s how it was before the move.

It’s not about looks it’s bout sound quality

Thanks Mark, it’s certainly been a project, plenty of hard work and fortunately, not too much stress.

It’s not our retirement home, it’s too big for that but it will be our home while I am running the business.

Kind regards
