Come on… Let’s just have a separate thread for sexualised jokes & comments. Simple, no?
Then start one, it’s that easy.
Get it going and you don’t ever have to visit it again.
DG…
I certainly don’t wish to be the originator of such a thread!
Those with that interest or bent could easily do it, but I sense a degree of provocation in both this and the original jokes thread. In any event, maybe those who appreciate this type of humour should exercise some restraint & reflect before posting.
It’s dispiriting that the thread has become less enjoyable because of all this.
Maybe time for the old thread to be closed to new posts, and two new ones created, but someone will have to define what the changeover point is (I’ve no idea not having been involved with the old thread: is it one or all of gratuitous foul language, crudity, misogyny, explicit references to sex (??? ) one thread jokes of the defined type/subject and the other avoiding (of course there will be grey middle areas that might legitimately appear in either).
I’ll draw @Richard.Dane’s attention to this and he can decide if a good idea or not (I have no interest in it other than finding this discussion interesting).
I think one jokes thread is enough. As I’ve said many times before, beyond forum rules, it’s impossible to be the arbiter of taste that will satisfy all on a jokes thread with such a diverse membership, so if any member sees a joke that they feel most would find offensive then flag it up to moderators.
I do not mind the odd double entendre or innuendo , in fact I enjoy it - but please let us keep this forum family friendly, in the same way I like it to be politics free
I think Richard’s post sums it up.
DG…
I never claimed to be right. I do find some things offensive. The discussion has gone on long enough. Let’s just leave it be.
I think Richard’s message says all we need to know: no parallel thread, but if you feel a joke has gone to far for acceptability then flag it. (And to me in the light of the bans on politics and religion , it would seem reasonable to flag anything that you feel would reflect badly on Naim to let it ride. Moderators will be the arbiters.)
I’m not too happy about flagging unless it relates to violence, xenophobia, and the catch-all hate speech. Despite some jibes to the opposite, I am generally open-minded.
But you clearly are unhappy (even upset?) by some thing/things in the jokes thread - which almost by definition should be lighthearted and enjoyable. Flagging would appear to be the only way to moderate it (of course only if the moderators agree with you), otherwise ignore the thread. There is nothing wrong or “sneaky” flagging something that you feel is beyond the pale - and if moderators generally don’t agree with you then at least you know where you are.
Where does the OP @Sloop_John_B stand on the subject?
Thanks for your comments. To some degree, I wish I’d never raised the issue. Maybe I need to listen to more of my favourite tunes
It wasn’t you who raised it!
Yes, but it all started on the Best Jokes thread when I called out some jokes,. It then spun off to here.
It wasn’t me who raised it either!

Oops, sorry- not sure how I made that mistake.
So where does the real OP, @MikeD stand on this?
I think he’s too busy laughing at all the posts he instigated.
Ooh, you ARE awful. But I like you.
I’ve quite a dark sense of humour so I’m rarely offended by jokes although some can be fairly crass, what does get to me though is the mentality, or lack of it, behind those who post obviously mysoginist and racist jokes thinking they’re hilarious
