This album is always amazing!
Mine has a similar issue on the same track. Fabulous album overall.
I bought this last week at October Analogue Records and it is fantastic, both musically and technically. It is an Abbey Road Half Speed Master by Miles Showell, produced by Craig Crane the owner of October Analogue Records. They have several jazz reissues on their label which are well worth buying as the quality is sublime.
Being a Neil Ardley fanatic I have held off on this version to date but am curious as to whether or not it significantly improves on the original.
There’s a fair bit of info on the recording in Viv Ardley’s biography of Neil.
There is an extensive review on Tracking Angle which gives a lot of info. I can’t say what difference there would be between October Analogue’s version and the original. Although I can say that Craig is a perfectionist.
Bjork Vespertine double album is really well produced. Amazing instrumentation and close mic work. A very personal album
Lonnie Smith, a jazz organist, makes a nice change from brass or guitar. The album is funky and jazzy… however, there’s a kind of distortion in the bass drum, especially on track A2. Do you hear that too?
I had the original one and didn’t find it so well recorded. With my ears, which are forcefully different from yours.
Emma Rawicz & Gwilym Simcock - Big visit
Very nice contemporary jazz with two great and well matched players.
The album is very well recorded, nice depth and clarity without any excess, it all feels polished and rounded despite being very precise.
Pleasant album with warm jazz music, the sound is the highlight with nice balance between airy piano and well recorded drums and percussion…
@registlse cannot agrre more; this is a brilliant album and - on top - very well recorded
When I see the quality (recordings and physically) of certain vinyls today I don’t see where the progress is in more than 60 years…
I received the Donald Byrd album yesterday (on promotion 15 euros…), and the recording is superb! It’s like being in the café, sitting at a table in front of the stage… incredible!
