Has anyone had recent experience of Townsend podiums on speakers
Yes, several of us around here have these – I think many (inc. me) are pleased with what they do.
What do you wish to know, more specifically?
Just wanted to know if they would improve the sound am using BW 804d4 speakers and what areas you noticed
They will clean up the lower frequencies a lot. (and more)
but just add the missing „h“ and have a search for:
Townshend Podiums
…and you will find interesting old posts about them, here !)
Details of your floor construction would help people to relay their experience I would think ?
They were excellent for me too but I moved them on as the stack Audio Auva’s performed better and had a much nicer visual appearance…
As @kampak suggests, I’d read the reviews, which are readily accessible (I think). I suspect the level of difference/gain (always subjective), will depend on your existing floor – just be careful if your floor isn’t level, as the podiums may not float fully on the spring cells i.e. you may need some packing.
Actually the podium feet are adjustable , so no packing is needed. Unless you have a wildly uneven floor that is.
Also do not think a solid concrete floor negates their usefulness. Mine support PMC MB2se on a very thick concrete floor and the improvement over the manufacturers spiked feet was substantial.
I think it’s a shame that platform number 6, which I was supposed to get, is much more expensive than the smaller ones when the only difference is a slightly stiffer spring in the mechanism. But the hi-fi industry profits from wealthy customers.
Well, my floor is 4cm oak on wooden construction. I meght have kept my Linn Keltiks if tried Podiums with them, but now with already better speakers (Kudos) its great anyway. I heard Podiums in 4 (or 5?) different installations, at least 3 of them with/without them… the result was from „slightly better“ to „transforming good“
If the size more or less fits the footprint of the speaker (or rack) I appreciate the looks, too.
