One last pic before I pack it up for posting…a little beauty
I would go for the Aluminium version as close to original as possible.
That’s what I’m thinking, but for a different reason - Boron’s fragility. Every situation is different, but I keep thinking I’ll just worry every time I put a record on ( and I have a lot of old, much-loved but not in perfect condition LP’s, singles), or go to clean the stylus. I’m careful, but…
Vital/alu seems the safer option - and David agreed: much closer in sound to the original.
Had an email from Goldring: Troika is finished and will be with me in a few days. I’ll post a photo when it arrives.
Then…off to a dealer* for a Linn service, and fit.
*I’m hoping Grahams - if that can be done all in one day.
@steviebee… excited for you Steve hope it sounds as good as it looks.

Cheers Graham!
Exciting…
The Goldring Troika, Alu/Vital.
Beautifully protectively packaged; original box, Linn guard and screws all sent back with a lovely Goldring box containing this little jewel. And a nice handwritten note from David. I’m chuffed. Beautiful work.
Can’t wait to get it fitted and the LP12 serviced, and get playing. Total cost £467 for the Troika, plus £400 (+ vat I think) for David’s rebuild.
I’m happy, even without hearing it. My wallet is (cough) ecstatic: at least when this little gem wears out, I’ll be able to afford the retip!
Lovely. Thanks for sharing pictures
She’s a beauty…
They really are great value for money. Timing is excellent.
@steviebee.. I am very excited to hear how this beauty sounds and how I find one! It’s all looking good so far Steve.

Can one run a Troika with just the two front mounting bolts? Or does it really need the rear bolt for extra goodness?
(Zeta arm on my Sondek).
You’d probably be better off with a Karma - after all, AFAIK the Troika was just a selected Karma with a three point mount. Once you’re in rebuild territory I would guess any special selection is past, so better of with the two point mount for the Zetas. Oh yes, and the Karma will cost less in the first place.
Probably true, but not as pretty as a red Troika. ![]()
The Troika’s flying leads would be a problem as well. And I think I’d need to swap my Stageline “S” for a “K”.
Ah well. Back to the drawing board.
And flying leads and raised lands around the holes for the mounting screws.
I think you might be on to something here.
You could probably get the stageline converted to K. IIRC it’s just a resistor swap. I am seriously considering going back to a Troika next year rather than splashing out 3x the cost for a brand new cartridge. My Prefix would need to be converted too.
Troika was VASTLY better than a Karma. The Karma sounded quite ordinary when compared. The Troika was loaded with vibrancy an colours. To my ears it was very obvious.
Troika sounds better with Stage S than K to my ears.
