I just found it funny that it got mentioned as a reference for anything, since it’s not a particularly relevant TT.

Quite a few of the Clearaudio turntables and tonearms utilise magnetic decoupling in their bearings. The magnetically suspended tonearm in particular doesn’t constrain pivot to platter/bearing distance IIUC.

I’m not defending the TT in the original post, just mentioning that it’s more than the Solstice that uses the technique, and in places where tonearm pivot to platter distances might vary.

The fiber suspended tonearms also allow for movement I suspect, there’s no hard constraint on the Vertere DG-1’s lateral arm movement, or on the Frank Schröder arms that use thread bearings.
