Indeed! I kind of like the assurance of a ”Dr” in the brand name.

I also associate the model name Woodpecker to a joke swedish name for turntable, which would translate roughly to a ”vinyl lathe”

I don’t understand sorry…
However I like the Woodpecker turntable and know it has a good reputation. But find the use of Dr , to give more seriousness to the brand, a bit ridiculous. As Dr Oekner pizza.

The thing with this one is, though, that it was founded around 1900 by an actual doctor and was initially a pharmacy-like brand. It grew from there to household products, etc. So at the time it was different and for those who grew up with the brand in Germany it is just a brand name.

It is indeed weird when exported in its current form, but even more odd to come up with this turntable name

The Oekner pizza is a piece of s…If only it was delicious :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Little you can do with frozen pizza, but Dr Oetker “Die Ofenfrische” variant is actually quite “ok”. This is the pizza forum, right?

Just like @Suedkiez said, the actual Dr. Oetker was running a pharmacy (in my hometown) and started selling portions of baking powder from that place. You can say that his business has grown somehow…
To stay with the Pizza theme, among the frozen ones, Oetker are my favorite ones.
