I got the CD5xs and nac 202 preamp both with the UK plug. I recently move to Australia . Does any bro can recommend some AU plug or adapter for me please thank you
When we tested potential plugs at the factory for use on the Power lines we found the best sounding ones for NZ and Australia were the Tapons we had been sent for evaluation by Chris Murphy in NZ. Note though that, IIRC, they aren’t strictly legal in Australia without having the top socket removed or plugged up.
The local Australian Naim dealer in your city should be able to advise you.
They most likely have some Aussie Naim cables
I had to re read exactly what Chris Murphy had sent you….
I check the website, can not find any dealer in Au
Where in Australia are you located?
Sydney
Try Harry & Norman York at Audio Genesis in Pyrmont. They have been involved with Naim for many years and even took on the distribution for a bit after Warren Stolmack retired. Top people, highly recommended.
I must admit, I briefly wondered whether they could possibly be a good enough electrical conductor for the stated purpose.
Interesting.
I did kind of guess that the Tapons weren’t readily available in AU as nowhere seemed to list them and any stockist I did find were based in NZ….which is weird, as ‘piggy back’ plug extension leads are available everywhere….So must be some sort of strange approval reg or something….
I think, strictly speaking, it’s not actually legal to ‘self’ fit a mains plug on a cable in AU, even though re-wireable plugs are stocked for sale at the local DIY stores….! Australia is full of paradoxes….
What I do find interesting though, is that both the Atom HE and Core that I purchased late last year in AU both came with factory terminated Tapon mains cables in the box……!

In the old days Chris Murphy would remove the Crabtree or MK plugs from the Naim mains cable that came in the box and fit a Tapon. I was out in NZ when supply of Naim’s favoured Crabtree plugs became very difficult and I ended up taking a box as well as filling every available space in my luggage with some of the removed Crabtrees to take back to the UK on my return flight.
Yeah, I did know that Chris had instigated the whole Tapon plug thing….
He either wired up a massive batch for the foreseeable future (!) and they got passed over to A2A when they took over distribution or somebody else is now supplying them….
As I say, both recent boxes I purchased had them included and as far as I recall, both boxes were also still factory sealed when I took possession (in fact I know for certain the Core was as I had three units due to other issues and I tend to be a of a stickler for such things…)

Not familiar with the Tapon plug, is it a piggyback style plug.
DG…
In 1999, Warren Stolmack supplied the 72 cards for my 32-5, hence I refer to it as a 72-5
Yup, the NA329/729 time align board upgrade for the NAC32.5 was a good one. One of my NAC32.5s has this and it performs really well. It also has one BIG advantage over the NAC72, especially if you use it for listening to vinyl or for setting up a recorder - a mono switch.
FYI @jyyzw
Here’s a AU/NZ Tapon plug as supplied with my Naim Core (unused as I use a IEC–IEC cable direct to a UPS)…
If you look them up, should be able to find supply in NZ and they’ll deliver to Oz…! But from when I last searched a few years back, I couldn’t find supply direct in Oz….
@Richard.Dane – I guess the plastic film acts as the ‘bung’ for the AU market…!
SC
Yes, exactly that.
They’re actually easier to wire than standard rewireable AU plugs as they’re side entry (a bit like a UK plug) as opposed to the usual top entry….much cleaner looking too.
And if you piggy back loads of them you have the ultimate Star Earth…!

I try to call Harry york last Friday, but a young guy told me that he don’t know Naim audio. I think that he is not Harry….
No one in Oz knows Naim Audio, certainly not at present…!
