UK plugs change to AU plug

TBH, I come from the same direction….
My father is a builder/site manager (carpenter by trade) of 50years and these day I’m a network installer (on many of his sites!)…Ive tended to mostly do all my own electrics, on-site and home, and then get the ticket from one of the friendly sparkies… I’ve noticed I’m somewhat OCD with cabling – the sparkies often aren’t…! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::rofl:
That’s been back in the UK.

I just hadn’t heard of ring main wiring being installed in Oz and presumed it wasn’t code, though to be honest that was just a presumption based on when I’ve ripped into things and I’ve never actually 100% checked whether it was possible…
To be fair, whilst it can be a bit ‘nanny’ and the cops will nick you for doing 62km/h, the trades are often fairly relaxed….

Having said all of that, I’ve come round to radials anyway…think the UK must be the only country with ring mains (which I believe stems from WWII and saving copper)…Fused plugs too.

Hi My dedicated ring main is running off a high quality 32A RCD and MCB circuit breaker. This is only for my hifi, nothing else is on this circuit. I was shocked when I first looked up in my roof and to my horror I found none of the electrical cables are laid in conduits, just left laying all over the place Criss crossing all over the ceiling beams and joists. Difference countries different standards.

Sounds good.

Shocked (pun intended) re roof spaces here..?! That’s nothing…Until only a few years ago, JB’s weren’t even mandatory…even screw nuts seemed optional through the 70/80/90’s..! Bit of tape ‘ll do..! Earth sleeve, nah…Lose Rockwool, don’t worry about it…!
Nice soldering though…

Here’s a typical bit of wiring in a WA roof space…
(The conduit bit is me..!)

No Wago’s or JBs here…!

And I thought UK sparkies were lazy…!

You have forgotten to also add a possums running around in the ceiling with a python laying in wait. I have also come across heaps of rubble just left up in the ceiling. I have no idea why it’s been dumped up there.

Last weekend I went to Audio Genesis and met Harry, really nice person, thank you for recommending to me, lol . By the way, my existing system is cd 5xs and 202 pre amp, I want to get the streamer ( Cambridge audio)for online music. Can I keep the din to din (cd to pre amp) connection and also use din to rca connection? Many thanks.
