Unconventional speaker designs

Unconventional speker design is one thing, but AI imagineering is quite another…

I won’t argue that it’s ugly (it is), but is it really that much uglier than the two in the top image? I’m not sure.

Well most of the speakers here are vulgar. But that one is just ugly lol.

I saw a video on YouTube on the making of usher speakers, bloody bell a bit rough for such expensive speakers.

Boenicke W22 would certainly be on my list of unconventional speaker designs:

The sound? Never heard anything that good in my life yet.

They’re a great speaker. The faulty one should be repairable…

How long is a piece of string? I think that to have any chance of assessing it would be necessary to be specific about what drivers… However I think the bass would be much diminished relative to the sound level of the range normal to the driver, requiring very high power with filter drastically cutting of the midrange to be in balance.

Sorry, that was meant to be a humorous reference to the speakers Mitch runs, with many tens of drivers. It wasn’t meant to be a serious question.

Certainly one of the most unusual speakers I have heard was this Bayz duo which uses the Bayz Radial Speaker (BRS), a unique “radial tweeter” design that is composed of a cylindrical membrane made from a proprietary ultralight material, creating omnidirectional sound emission.

Driven by Rui Borges turntable/Supreme Analogue pickups/NAT tube amps at the Vienna Hifi Show 2023 it combined holographic sound with incredible optics, certainly not for everyone.

Played Kraftwerk ‘Wir sind die Roboter’ (how much at odds with the reproduction tech can you be?) with incredible definition and control - when your diaphragm has muscle sore…but with classical recordings they system revealed massing air and volume of the instruments.

That setup looks like a kraftwerk…

Certainly requires one to drive it!

I count 25 tweeters and 36 mid/bass units per speaker! I wonder if the latter all play full range, or whether they’re somehow divided into groups.

A teacher in the Netherlands earns an average 5800 euros a month pre tax.

How do you know AI imagined that ?
Japanese market is very open for this kind of crap.

Is that considered high?

It’s not bad I’d say. There is lots of popular talk that teachers done earn much, but the modal income is 3500 euros a month.

Perhaps it’s different in other countries and if you’d want to buy a city house on one salary 5800 is perhaps not enough but it gives you a decent life in the Netherlands and lots of holidays.

It would be a very good salary for a teacher here in Sweden. In fact I think it’s more in line with what a head master makes or maybe even more.

Looked it up. It’s more than the average salary for a head master which is about 5000€
