I had JM Lab bought in 1985. Not so bad. A gift from my dad when I succeeded at the Baccalauréat test .( I was 18 old)
The Focals I took home to try some time around 2001 could strip paint, figuratively speaking, and that was with Rega amps. They looked like a cross between a barrel and a Dalek but I forget the number. I also tried 1007S stand mounts (supposedly easier to drive than the 1007Be and no beryllium) that the Focal rep had left with the shop to try, not sure they were ever an official product, they weren’t harsh but were never anything other than boring.
You need isolation feet for them. The soundstage will open, and you will have better bass.
Chord makes Penguins isolation feet.
It’s true ! Didn’t knew you are french.
Congrats by the way. These speakers have good reputation.
Alas am not French, just remember my childrens tv.
Tom Danley of Danley Sound Labs is responsible for several novel loudspeaker designs, (mostly for PA applications) such as the Unity/Synergy Horn, the DIY LabHorn and the Jericho Horn. See also, The Matterhorn a shipping container sized subwoofer (flat from 15-80Hz, -3db @ 12Hz) built for the US Military!
He has also pioneered the development of Tapped Horn subwoofers, one of the early designs for home audio applications was the “THSPUD”, a 2X8" 800w tapped horn designed to play flat from 19Hz - 125 Hz and down to 17hz (-10db). This would also later be sold as a kit to the DIY community as the Danley DTS-10 “Super Spud”.
So it was also in the uk tv or you lived when child in France ?
Ah… you beat me to it! Although I think they’re called Oswalds Mill Audio Ironic. Almost any of their speakers would be candidates here though.
Ironic ? WAF irony maybe.
Not sure I’d sit there when they get powered up…
Like FR’s toilets these are not real. AI and other fictional images are just visual art not unconventional speaker designs!
‘excels with sharp treble and punchy bass’…
