Unhappy with the new NAIM update

Better clocking is hard to describe, but it does just make listening easier to follow, and gives more space to the music.
This in turn gives the brain an easier time and so you feel you enjoy it more, plus it’s far less fatiguing.

Thanks :-), thought I would be made the root cause of it all……

I join you, although I still feel this might be too early. But hoping never hurt me, so here we go

@dmu same here!

I’m late to comment on this thread but have noted most of the issues referenced across the forum on this update.

I’d previously been thrilled by the improvements my Nova gave over the exceptional Atom.

However, I’d readily agree with the comment about “slightly off playback speed”.

Female vocals (in particular) seem shaky/quivery. The whole soundstage (for me) sounds “off” and everything’s “jumbled/muddy”.

Whilst previous updates had provided features and functionality I’d never really noticed any significant “audio” difference.

This version seems (to me) to be worse than previous (soundwise).

Have updated my lowly Atom from first launch of the current software and have to say that it sounds as good as ever, however since having my Nova PE I has resisted updating it, but looking forward to a potential uplift in sound quality when I do. Work your magic Naim, we know you will come up trumps.

when the new firmware update is released, who has the guts to be the first one to try it?

I will as I consider my ND5 XS 2 now performing not as good as it should.

I am not happy with my ND555 either
I wont outline the issues but suffice to say I cannot listen for very long.
An analogy, if I may… In the movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, real people are replaced by aliens.
They all look like they normally do and dress like normal as well, but something is a bit off with these alien replacements.
This is how I feel about my ND555 … at first it seems ok but then you listen and it is just not the same as it was… the magic is gone, I find my mind wandering, etc.
I have emailed with Naim and I am assured the "patch update ’ is imminent. I am looking forward to it and hope I will not be disappointed.

One can only hope that it will get better and that it will happen soon. My NSS 333-NPX 300 does’nt reach the same level as before. Hard and sharp sound on music that used to be a pleasure to listen to. CDs and vinyl now mostly account for the music at my house.

I am not … who will it be?
2 months without enjoying music… this was hard so far. But no rush in the end - it mus be a 100% perfect one now

I listen to my ND5XS2 so infrequently now my main system is barely used.

Each time I do, I initially think I was over analysing things and it’s fine… 2 or 3 tracks later I have to turn it off.

I’m not even bothered getting my loaned out NDX2 back.

I’ll try the new firmware if it drops before Christmas, but if it’s no better I’m selling out of Naim completely in January.

Such an easily avoidable shame.

Any idea what you might try to replace Naim with, we’re not exactly spoiled for choice in Dublin?

I’m really hoping for something soon I know coding and testing takes time but I’m used to most electronics for example my phone or tv or pc where if something like this happens I can use some type of back up and restore to put it on the last good firmware. I understand that for whatever reason naim can’t do this but once everything is sorted I definitely won’t be in a hurry to try updating firmware in the future.
