Continuing the discussion from [Unhappy with the new NAIM update](I recently upgraded the cable for my SL2 speaker to Chord Music and got a great sound, very dark and full, just like I like it. Then I updated the Naim app and was immediately disappointed because I got a sharp with screaming sound. There’s no option going back, so what do I do to get what I listened before?
Thank to Naim..I started the long thread and ended by saying that the new update 3.11 sounds very good to me.less bright more dark better bass and more organic
AFAIK you have not posted in the thread no1.
Have you updated to 3.10.1 and it is still harsh?
That is what I feel.
Patch is miles ahead but still very different to the organic sound from 3.8.
You’ve obviously not been on the forum for a few weeks. There was a 1700 post thread on this subject. I thought that you’d like the speaker cable As Drago wrote download the even newer firmware 3.10.1. Much better!
Yes - it’s a bit sad.
And especially not only for the money but the thousands of testing and critical listening which went in the balance.
You have no idea what I am about to give to get back to the old fw. I would pay naim for that … but I know that this is ridiculous

I meant different cables, psu, switches, cable dressing, relaxing…
Cables can do much…
On shunyata omega might help a bit as it cuts some brightness but another 3k… and ansuz or other danish night end speaker cables…
Bringing back my sound could be possible but on what expense.
By the way … there is definitely some fluctuation in fw!
Right now it sounds very good - far better than yesterday… oh dear. Hope that is not the beginning of…
That’s what I posted in the Happy thread. It’s still settling. Maybe you ought to give it time. Believe you got a response from @Blackbird there as well which you could read as the same suggestion.

Settling is a brain thing - but in my experience there will be something left when it is not a winner for the first e sec.
Other than new car design which you dislike and love later (works not always )
I am hearing settling as well. Seems to change throughout the day. The same happened with 3.10.0, and after about a week it was steady. Definitely better now overall than 3.10.0, significant improvement. When it is sounding good: wow! And I am confident that will be the settled sound.
No time is a good time to do this but I wonder if a total power down of your entire kit for, say, 24 hours would help. Let all the caps drain. EM charge may still be there. But it may help. Also, I use the Ayre ‘Irrational but Efficacious’ glide tones to remove EM (I think that is what is happening, though I have no understanding of why it improves things). I have been running that album on repeat overnight for a number of days.
I wish my banking software settled over a few day’s, well only if it gave me more money rather than went off and showed me less money.

I’ve wondered about something similar to this. I’ve reset(rebooted) my router/switch before for other reasons and have noticed SQ improved. Thought I was crazy. I stream 90% of the time and thought maybe it had something to do with getting a new route to the Qobuz servers. Could have been the Tequila as well idk.
