Uniti Atom or Star ( with spare NC250)

I will soon have a spare NC250 power amp , has anyone fronted a NC250 with a Uniti Atom or Star and found it a good step up over the standalone.

Thanks

Pair it with an Atom HE.

Yes, I found a major uplift by adding a NC 250.

Not sure you’d go out and buy a new NC 250 to use with an Atom, but if you have them both, or as an interim solution, it’s great!

Yes ,with the way all second hand equipment is plummeting in price id much rather keep the NC250 . I had it from new and it’s a belter. Better to create another nice system .

Why buy a box with a power amp you’re not going to use? Get an Atom HE.

The Atom HE will connect with the XLRs that come with the 250. An Atom or Star will require special leads that will cost £500 or more. The HE is the one to go for. It’s both the cheapest and the best sounding in a setup with a 250.

My thoughts exactly :+1:

The Atom HE and NC250 do work well together. I think the NC250 really benefits from the 222 if funds stretch to this.

Yes. I had Qute plus 250, then Atom plus 250, then HE plus 250. The 250 does uplift the Atom but I agree with others that the HE is not just more logical but actually sounds better than the Atom

I’ve tried older Naim poweramps, connected to a Superuniti - disappointing was my conclusion.

As others point out, Atom HE must be the choice.

The CD player inside Star is likely based on entry level CD5 range, and could become weak link in a 250 based amp.

Star is now discontinued and with future service support in mind, I’d stay fully clear of this item.

Naim suggested to me that it’s only worth going for the 222 over the HE if the 222 is going to be boosted with an NPX300, or if the phono stage is required. If a bare 222 is all that’s on the cards, it’s more sensible to stick with the HE. Unless matching visuals are important of course, but £3,400 is a lot pay for that.

Thanks learning allot here , never looked at the Uniti range prior . But hdmi is a prerequisite.

And a search tells me it does not …

But I have a Wiim which does, so digital out to digital in on Atom HE mmm.

Yes, HDMI ARC is available only on the Nova, Star and Atom (the regular version, not the HE.)
