Will this Sonos be (easily) able to play the files I have on the HDD of my Core ?
The Core is rj45 connected to my network.
I could use either my Pixel 8a or my iPad Air 9th gen.
What format are your files on the core?
If WAV, the Sonos will struggle to make sense of the Metadata.
If FLAC or other formats, it should be fine.
If your iPad can already play the music using a media player app that can see the core upnp, then you should be able to airplay to it.

Never tried or though of this as the iPad stays in my music room…
Try installing the app “vlc”.
Confirm access to local network. It should then list the core under “file servers” (mine shows jriver upnp almost immediately).
You should then be able to navigate through artists and albums etc and play. If that works, you can send the output to any airplay speaker.
I don’t think that Sonos can access the core itself directly.
VLC plays perfectly the files on the iPad so, as the Sonos is compatible upnp, it should works…

A word of caution here; if you research this (and that is not the same as using ChatGPT!) you’ll find plenty of threads on forums suggesting this is not guaranteed to work.
I will buy it from Amazon or another online shop (as of the 2 hifi dealers in my area one sells Sonos and the other Naim…) so if it’s not working I’ll send it back…
