Uniti core problems again

Tried ripping new cd’s which showed in ripping monitor (with errors) but the “go to album” message didn’t appear just “clear results”. Did the hard power down (although when not in use the core is always powered down) but no change and the albums did not appear in new music or album list.
Following some advice on help and forums I tried rebuild the database option.
Following this the only albums visible in the app were those in the “downloads” folder, MQ had vanished. I could however view the MQ folder over the network and everything appeared intact. I ripped another cd which had the go to album message and was viewable in the app but not the rest of the MQ folder, so back to rebuild database and this new album duly vanished from view in the app although it is visible over the network.

I have also tried resetting and reinstalling the app with no discernable difference.
I was then contemplating doing a restore from backup but when I checked my backup HD it has acquired a Recycle bin with 78gb of data. The view of core over network has no recycle bin.

This appears to be a similar problem that I had in 2020 and I have read through the thread but for some reason it doesn’t come to a conclusion and also another problem in 2023 regarding “Uniti Core not showing albums following restore from backup”. That thread ended successfully with a restore from backup. From what I remember I removed the recycle bin from backup before restoring but I’m wondering how it has re-appeared.

There was mention of Naim support investigating recycle bins, but I havent seen anything further on that.

Nothing has changed in the setup other than the acquisition of ND5xs2, not sure if that could cause problems with the app core album display.

Is the safest way to move the files from recycle bin to main backup, and then do a restore from backup, ? deleting recycle bin again?

Recycle Bin - it’s possible that the O/S creates/recreates the recycle bin automatically if it’s not found whenever it accesses the network drive, hence it ‘reappears’ after you’ve deleted it. However, the US software shouldn’t be scanning/rescanning the recycle bin…..

I’ve found the above confuses UPNP server software on my NAS storage if I re rip an album after deleting it - the album reappears in the album directory but with 2 examples of each track…..

Are you running the latest US software - v1.7 (a or b) I think?

Also, your US storage, disk or SSD must be getting old….. maybe time to consider a replacement?

He’s talking about UnitiCore not UnitiServe. So the latest fitmware is 2.5.8!

I don’t think I ever saw any resolution of the unwanted recycling bin issue. It’s also not a problem that I have run into myself, so can’t really suggest how to fix it.

But the Uniticore should be left on network sleep ideally. Tutning ut off means that it won’t do any of the housekeeping tasks it gradually acquires.

I do agree that replacing the internal hard disc and restoring the music from a backup is a good idea though.

I’ve only seen the recycle bin malarkey whilst playing about with MinimServer and Asset on my Synology NAS - fixed it by disabling recycle bin on the Music Shares and associated Backup Shares.

Sorry, note to self, read the question .

So if restoring from backup would it be sensible to relocate all the files in backup drive recycle bin to the backup drive MQ folder prior to restoring, I assume that if I left the bin there with files in it it may populate the Core HD with it’s own bin!
