I remember the PE thread becoming rather emotive, but there’s an informative review of the PE version in the Nov 24 issue of HFN by @andreweverard if anyone’s interested.
He seems impressed.

He does seem impressed doesn’t he?

Yup, read the review as well and all very positive, likewise really interesting review on the Epos ES7N, for some reason really like the look of that speaker since it first emerged.
Nov '24 issue? It’s only Mid-september!
Not in the publishing world, Christmas special probably delivered next week.
Once had a client where their business was novelty confectionery , was so confusing when they were neck deep in Easter Eggs in October and Christmas was long since past.
I don’t think it’s on line?
I’m in the U.K. so this probably won’t help a worldwide audience but my local library has an e-magazine subscription to hifi news so I can read via the libby app.
“The absolute sound” also just recently posted a very positive review on Youtube.
Interestingly the Mola Mola reviewed in the same issue, and from the internal pictures using the same Hypex modules, but with a switch mode PSU, gets a slightly higher rating.
There are good switch mode PSUs these days. More and more use them in high end products.
The PE doesn’t use Hypex modules, it has the Purifi implementation.
Well from the pictures they look identical and aren’t they all Bruno Putzeys’ designs?
Indeed, Bruno Putzeys contributed to Hypex and Purifi, as he also was involved in Grimm Audio before. Actually he also works within KII Audio.
Class D is slowly getting somewhere. I heard the newer Purifi-modules (1ET7040AS, designed for more demanding speakers) and they were not bad at all. Dual-mono with the bigger Hypex switching supplies. The ones I tried had polish discrete class A input buffers (Staccato Audio). I think they were built in Slovenia.
Yes. The Active Modules for the PMC twenty.5 series use Class D to very very good effect.
A steal at the price they sell for.

So much for all the negativity on the original Nova PE thread!!!
All I can say to the majority who rubbished it on the thread is ‘Don’t listen to one, then you can continue to imagine how bad it really is’.
I find my Nova has more than enough power for my needs & doubt I would be seriously considering replacing it with a PE.
What would really tempt me is SuperNova, with upgraded pre-amp, streamer &, possibly, power amp sections. Hopefully, Naim have gained a lot of knowledge from the current Uniti range & could improve on a successful formula.
Yes, he was involved with both, but they’re different companies, and thus, different designs. I think Purifi is actually his company, where at Hypex he was an employee.
The designs certainly measure differently and, by all accounts, sound different as well.
I think the power amps in most active speaker packages are class D these days. ATC and Acoustic Energy look to be the exceptions, though no doubt there are others.
