Uniti Nova turning on

Has anyone else had a uniti nova (etc) mysteriously not be in network standby mode when going to turn it on, the main power is on already? Turns itself on when unattended?

Only way it should wake is if someone either opens the naim app or uses airplay/Bluetooth or another music connection to it.

It should not happen - as mentioned, there could be a couple of things (adding to he list: HDMI-ARC; multi-room settings; …), that could trigger this.

Years ago, I had wakening events, when there was a switch in the 5GHz WiFi band or WiFi was lost. My system thought, it needed full power supply to reconnect, or something.
(But as far as I remember, that really was a while back.)

What input is usually active, when you encounter the state?

Ideally, the system would go back to sleep mode after the idle timers; but this will depend also the current input. (E.e. Internet radio or external sources might just start playing, when waking, Playlist-based inputs (streaming services, UPnP usually don’t).

Mine is still young and yet to do this.
I hooked it up via LAN and use the iPad to control it.
To make sure accidents don’t happen, I always put the volume on Zero before I put it to sleep.

It would be useful to have a lot more detail, which app, what else is connected / selected?

Two Nova working here no issues! Anything is possible, if you can share full details, including control point and firmware. The expression “latest firmware” is equivalent to a leaky teapot; full details requires less key strokes, haha!

‘fewer’. Anyway, nothing else is currently connected, other than WiFi (bt sh2) (same room, no issues). Latest firmware(!).
One has gone back for investigation/repair; it had several ‘4 2 5’ crashes too. The lent unit didn’t do it until today, once, just made me jump!
If it’s not well known, that’s all I need to know.

Two units here - no issue although not using wifi. Try a search although I don’t recall previous threads on the issue.
One thing to try is to use a patch cable instead, if the unit is on wifi, to ascertain if the same issue arises.

I’ve certainly seen something similar before. Nova owner arrived home to find system blaring out, to the severe annoyance of neighbours. Turned out to be Spotify. Someone connected to Nova (guest, or whatever), then left but still ‘connected’ via the net, unbeknownst by all. Something like that, anyway.

This is a well known Spotify “feature” that Naim cannot prevent from occurring.

It doesn’t start playing. Not even ‘on’ on. But main supply is active.

Is server mode on?

No

I had this all the time with my Nova while it was on WiFi: 2 out of 3 mornings when I come into the living room it’s on and feels warm. I would also randomly here the clicks inside as it was turning on.

A few weeks ago I connected via a network cable instead and it hasn’t happened again. Now I only need to get the cable nicely out of sight.

If WiFi removed ie power off hub, then the (“known good”) Nova certainly powers up main supply and then down again a few seconds later. But down again, doesn’t stay on. So not quite same, but yes I suspect a weakness or undocumented (pfff, yeah, bUt thE FoRUm) behaviour in this area is related to the fault on mine.

Just for the record, if this thread read in future; my Nova unit went for repair and the np800 streamer card deemed faulty and replaced. All good now. Behaviour all as expected.
