I keep smiling at people commenting on an increase in bass. Whilst I’ve no experience of earlier FW versions, coming from Cyrus gear the change is enough to loosen my teeth. I’ve had to install the foam plugs in my bass ports to tone it down (and safeguard what remains of neighbourly relations!)
Deeper bass and increased bass are two different things. In my last posts I was talking about deeper bass and not oversized increase in bass boominess.
If you are experienced audiophile, I really do not believe that you wanted to kill deep bass in your system with foam plugs. Maybe you have some room acoustic problems with unpleasant bass peaks in your room.
Believe me true high quality deep bass nobody wants to kill or to lessen. That is not wise in audiophile world, because this is a part of music. And very very important part.
I suppose that I am just not accustomed to so much bass. Anyway, I apologise for the tangent and my misunderstanding
I’ve powered it down twice now, unplugged the speakers and removed the power cord, left it a while a powered back up. Both times the sound quality has been very poor. If there’s something I can do to keep the recent fw upgrade and have my sound quality back, I’d be really happy because I’d love do get the DAB/FM module fitted.

That sounds very similar to the experience. I recommend you contact Naim support so that you can refresh your firmware.
Marty, do you mean that new firmware (3.2.0) provided directly from Naim support is different compared to automatically installed firmware 3.2.0 (from app, or from Uniti settings menu)?
Or, do you mean that SQ problems are due to 3.2.0 firmware installation errors? And reinstalling/refreshing 3.2.0 firmware removes such errors and improves SQ?
Hi Luc, the firmware provided is the same, no difference. Since there is not a way to ‘reload’ firmware from the app (that I am aware of) I think the best (only way) to get the firmware is to have it resent from Naim support.
I believe reloading the firmware fixed my issues. I hear no difference from V3.2 from the app and V3.2 from Naim support. They are the same.
Had an hour or so home alone, so took the opportunity to rock out at a volume I don’t normally get away with. I have to say, this latest incarnation sounded glorious with a new found depth to the bass and sublime mids. The sound is more forward, but not harsh at all, just clear and detailed. Have never enjoyed my Nova/Marten combo as much. Hoping it stays like this (or gets better)
Today I replaced my QED XT40 for Tellurium Q Black II speaker cable. The SQ has improved as you can read in many reviews. It’s difficult to explain in english. The istruments and voices are with more natural body. The sound is absolutely brillant in hights and deep bass, everything is there. The Nova sounds perfect now (until the next FW-update ). I don’t know what else could be improved.
Reverted to 2.6.1, awaiting 3.2.1.
Strange dejavue…
How did you reverse the upgrade?
Nick
Just one email today, within 2 hours the download link was sent.
Hi Gents,
Despite everything I tried with the New 3.2 update, not happy with the sound and idiocratic screen behaviour…
I would like to revert to the previousl 2.6.1
Please send me the link.
( I know How it works)
Thank you in advance,
Mr. Orange, did you try re-installing V3.2 (since you have the firmware tp revert to v2.6.1)? I found V3.2 much better after re-installing (I chalk it up to a ‘corrupted’ initial upgrade).
Who did you email?
Nick
I did not update again to 3.2, maybe I will ask naim also for the link from 3.2. To update over IP
7 days on and still no response from Naim to my request to downgrade…
I emailed Naim support and had a reply within 2 hrs, I have “downgraded” to V 2.6.1 and the sound quality has been recovered.Phew!
Nick
Just reinstalled V3.2 and the original sound quality is back plus a bit more, very happy now. Anyone having issues, email Naim support via the website, revert back to V2.6 via the link they send out, have a listen then replace with V3.2 as before. All sorted.
Nick
But how can that be? I am puzzled.
