Did you get 2.6.1 file from support? Or both – 2.6.1 and 3.2?
LOL
Hi Tariq,
Thanks for your email. I’m very sorry but you cannot downgrade the firmware of your unit once it has written, as it may not function correctly afterwards - the firmware is written to progress and will not be able to install correctly going to other way.
We do of course rigorously test the firmware updates - and they are all checked to ensure they do not affect the sound of the product, this is done with each firmware upgrade and has been passed by our team.
Kind regards,
Russell

I had V2.6.1 from support, installed as per instructions then updated via the app to V3.2.
Nick
Obviously Russell doesn’t talk to the other support guys…

My email was sent by Connor.
How do you reply with quote?
Nick
You highlight the bit you want to quote and then tap the quote button that appears magically in front of you.

Great, thanks!

Russell seems to struggle with grammar too.
I might be tempting fate but having put up with terrible sound, lost screen, lost room and overwhelming urge to chuck the Nova out of the nearest window I can say the new update seems to have settled down.
The sound I’m now receiving is a big improvement on the previous one. In fact it’s very impressive so I would implore those experiencing problems to persevere with the new update as the end result is more than worth it.
Now I can’t use my Tidal on the Nova, I really am getting pi***d off with this update.
Nick
Tidal via Roon works fine here on my nova. Have you logged out and logged in again?
Yes tried that, it works on my iPad but not on my Nova, this is getting beyond a joke, does Naim not test their software before releasing it. I had major issues with the sound quality of the new firmware which I had to downgrade and reinstall, this isn’t acceptable.
Nick
I’ve just realised what I’ve done …
I bought a computer that plays music from a company that doesn’t have a background in making computers or in developing operating systems. Damn …
The cd works beautifully though - clearly some history there
If you look on the other threads here you will see that Naim said today that they are investigating the problem which only affects the IOS app (and which wasn’t there when it was beta tested. In other words this is Tidal screwing it up, not Naim).

I don’t know what the hell is happening with the latest update but last night due to thunderstorms I turned off the Nova and unplugged it at the mains.
Switched it on again this morning and the sound had improved.
I’ve wondered if it’s just psychological after the problems I’d experienced installing the latest software. Fortunately for my sanity my wife also thought the sound had improved and she has no interest in hi fi.
The sound was also very good but now there is an additional clarity.
I’m streaming from a mini Zen II and there’s detail I’m hearing for the first time on my old CDs.
I’m not a Naim employee or dealer.
There’s definitely some witchcraft going on!
Nick
We told you to unplug the Nova. This happened to all of us.
If we want Naim employees to continue visiting this forum and make positive contributions in terms of support, may I suggest we knock off the personal criticisms? They add nothing to the discussion.
Given all the issues listed here and there (e.g. on both of my Atom units HDMI/ARC is not putting the units back into standby, display on/off latencies and inconsistent) and given my own experience, sound inconsistency left aside, this update is clearly not working for me.
One shouldn’t have to unplug the units to power-cycle for it to sound better. I’m puzzled by the huge waiting-time between each firmware update, only to find out that each single one brought back already known issues that were supposed to be solved with previous updates (e.g. the HDMI/ARC issue aforementioned is not new to me).
I love the Atom and when they do work as intended the Uniti kits are stellar performers, but I truly wish Naim put much more efforts in providing a user-friendly and consistent software to go with it,
For example I still don’t get why the hell the “shuffle” or random function is limited to 500 tracks, whereas the now old UQ2 had an actual shuffle mode to play a whole library. Not everybody listen to music by browsing its library, building playlists and selects the music. I used to simply press play on the UQ and then on the shuffle button of the remote to stream tracks from my Synology that I even forgot I stored there and it was a really cool feature when my library had 8TB of music, and grew all the way up to 12 ever since) and not everybody does use to Tidal or Roon even though those are nice feature to have and future-proof and I’m sure some here find them useful.
I hope Naim will develop further the app and firmware to propose even more because the platform deserves it and the user deserves even more flexibility from a usage perspective.
Pomito, if you look at previous posts I had already discovered the on/off phenomena. What surprised me was the improvement continued when I did it for a second time.
