Weird thing with any kind of upgrade/update is how you finally perceive something completely differently or hear lyrics differently.
Now perhaps not the finest bit of music ever but family fun night, so a few Grease tracks…did anyone ever realise that Greased Lightnin’ had these lyrics:
You know that ain’t no shhit We’ll be gettin’ lots of tit in grease lightnin’
Nova been playing for couple of hrs and it does sound subtly different, a bit more air up top and possibly little less bass but it’s not massive . Display off is worth any subtle changes.
I’m not seeking to downplay the obviously sincere expressions of dissatisfaction expressed on this thread, but, without closely analysing the whole thread, it seems there are about 6 or 7 contributors with perceived issues. I’m not sure how many Forum members own Novas and/or Atoms, but suspect it will be in the hundreds. It would be interesting to know from Naim the sales figures of these two models, and how many complaints they’ve received in respect of SQ following firmware and software upgrades.
Just as aside, I never install upgrades for anything (hi-fi, phone, tablet etc) until they’ve received the majority’s seal of approval. Early adopters of anything run the risk of unhappiness!
The sound was never boomy. Compared with now was perfect. That’s probably why Naim is asking for beta testers because a small group is responsible now for this sound and and tell everyone here how great the update is.
I’ve been listening to this new update on my Nova all week but it made a significant improvement in my environment. Better separation between instruments, more detail, faster bass. Also the option for turning off the screen is nice.
The only thing I’m missing is that now that the Nova appears in the Apple Home app, Is that I can’t switch the device on or off or see it’s on or off status in that app.
Other than that I’m really happy and enjoying this new update. Thanks allot @NaimAdmin !
Hi, I’m the owner of a uniti atom. Upgraded to 3.2.0 few days ago. Noticed one, big annoyance since then : the display keeps switches off after soms time disregarding any setting I try. I really do not want it to switch off, I like to see what music is playing, so this new setting is not something I need. But whatever setting I use, it always swithces off after some time. At first I thought it had something to do with the standby settings, but no matter what setting that has, the display still switches off. This has never happened before and seems to be due to this firmware update, Most of the time the display reacts when I use the remote, and switches on again, but sometimes it even do’nt react to this and I have to switch the unit off/on for the display to become visible again. Anybody else having the same problem ? Or must I apply any other setting ? Please help me on this, because for me this is a major setback.
