Out of the blue, my Star’s power button started blinking 4 times, I waited 2 seconds and it blinked once, waited 4 seconds and it blinked 4 times again.
When I go to the app, it’s not detecting the unit as it usually does in My Devices.
A few days ago, it was playing music and then stopped but the album art was still displayed on the screen. I turned it off with the remote but heard music and it turned on automatically and played the last track I was playing. Very odd behaviour as if a ghost had overtaken it.
Ideas? Should I disconnect the speakers and unplug the power cable and leave it off for 24 hours? Is this a bigger hardware issue that I should send it in to Naim Focal for?
I would just unplug it, wait for 30 seconds and then plug it in again and let it restart. No need to unplug the speakers and only if a quick restart doesn’t work would I start thinking about a longer wait with it off.
I’ve had to do this 5 times in the past 6-9 months. Is this frequency of errors and needing to unplug it ‘normal’ for the Star or could it be pointing to something more serious?
I’m in touch with Naim Focal UK Support so will see what they say also.
Naim have told me Error 411 is an internal communication error and the unit must be sent back to them. I only received the unit back from the first repair in Jan. 2025 so having to send it back for yet another repair within 6 months of experiencing more problems is making me lose faith in this product.
