Can I replace the dead power supply on the left with the new one on the right? The only difference I can see is that the output in the left is 4.2A and the one on the right 5A. Apologies for such a rookie request.
Hi, we are treading on thin ice here as discussion of non-Naim power supplies is outside of forum AUP.
In general, the Voltage must match exactly, and the Amperage should be at least as much, so you should be fine.
It’ll be just fine. The output voltage is the same and the current capacity should be the same or greater than (not less than) the original.
Are Naim no longer able to supply replacements of the US PS…? Shame if not…
Presumably a full 3rd party replacement isn’t going to have the inline ‘black box’ that the Naim PS has (though of course you could reuse the IEC mains lead with a replacement trannie)…I’ve never really known what this exactly is – I guess a ferrite choke within a oversized case…?

No issues. Output polarity is the same. Voltage the same, current handling equal or greater than.
The black box contains a ferrite ring. Probably worth keeping as long as you can source a replacement power supply with a suitable IEC input socket.
Thanks. Having difficulty finding a screwdriver to open the box to re attach to the new transformer.
I’ll keep working at it!
Yes, thank you. And this is the supply as provided. Plan to reuse the choke, but finding an appropriate screwdriver for the head is proving difficult!
Can you post a picture of the screw head as it may be non-standard.
DG…
Transformer? What exactly are you trying to unscrew?
Chris has a very good point! If the plug end is different then find the right power supply
No problem.
There’s no need to remove the black box/choke – just reuse that section of the cable and plug into the replacement tranny that you have sourced. It’s just a standard IEC plug at that end, so presuming your new PS has a female IEC input (most do) then just plug the original Naim portion of the cable with the mains plug and choke into your new PS tranny and you should be good to go…(only thing remaining is to check plug dimension that inputs into the UnitiServe)

I would add that the Naim supplied PSU is grounded, whereas your replacement is double insulated so presumably not grounded. I dare say it will still work, but this means that it is not strictly a like for like replacement.
