I have the opportunity to buy a Unity Qute 2 at a good price, and am thinking to use it as a second system, replacing a Meridian 561 and 556. We moved house a year or so ago and the second system room is too small for the Meridians to breath.
Any views here on the Unity Qute? I will be using it with Ruark Sabres and an active B&W sub, primarily streaming through Tidal and feeding the TV through it.
Thanks in advance,
It’s a nice little box and perfect for a second system. Be aware the screens often give up so check that.
Prices have been pretty stable for the last c5 years so it’s done all the depreciation it’s going to do.
The only challenge to its value is you can get an Atom for cÂŁ1100 which is better but if the qute is a good price and screen ok then I would definitely recommend.
Kind of regret selling mine!

One thing to know is that you need the Unitiqute 2 so as get the 192/24 streaming board and even then it will never be able to get Tidal Hi Res because of hardware limitations meaning a firmware update for Tidal hi res is not possible. An Atom would make a lot more sense to be honest.
also note that the later ones had bluetooth reception added that was not on the original qute 2 when released. so that can make a little bit of difference to the asking price.
I have two of them, as mentioned above, on one of them i had the common screen dying problem. Over a short period of time it just became dimmer and dimmer. I replaced the screen myself using one of the kits available of the 'bay. (the french seller)
I use three of them for multi room hifi; the screens are duff but it’s not an issue as the Naim app works but I use Roon. Sadly mine are pre Bluetooth, which is a shame.
The provide a worthwhile experience in my bedroom, study and kitchen. One feeds into Linn Kans whist the others supply music to ceiling speakers.
Just for completeness, I would add (and I’m sure David knows this despite what he posted above) that only the earliest of the Mk1 Unitiqutes were supplied with the original streaming board that doesn’t support 24/192 or Tidal. So it’s always worth checking the spec, as these Mk1 versions are often fine as long as they have updated firmware. Even those originally supplied with the older 24/96 board may have been returned to Naim to have the 24/192 board fitted as an upgrade.
Qute is pefect for a small room system! Go for it the rest is written above. Better qute 2 and look for the screen to work.
Thanks for all the advice. Just to confirm, it is a Unityqute 2, and it’s costing around £500, so I’m taking a punt on it.
As mentioned be careful of the screen, we had 2 screens replaced under warranty in quick succession, poor sourcing of components in my opinion

The French screen supplier was a success for me. I run the Qute with the upgraded board into a pair of AVI Nu Neutrons in the home gym and it works a treat. I’ve got it hard wired but a Vonets bridge or similar also does the trick.
I’m looking to get my old UQ2 up and running again and to use it for my study room. Any thoughts on which small bookshelf speakers (currently on the market) to pair it with ?
My UQ2 in the office “pod” drives a pair of Epos ES14s and makes a great fist of it. It’s more capable than you might imagine.
I’ve run it with both the AVI NuNeutrons and previously the ProAc Tablettes. The ProAcs are being used elsewhere just now but it was fabulous as a combination.
Thanks for sharing your feedback, appreciated.
