Unsubscribed ( to Qobuz)

How many tracks does your version have? The one available on Qobuz at the moment has 10 tracks, the version I bought has 16 tracks!

16 tracks for me too in Purchased.

Are you in UK or elsewhere?

Not too many on my end.

I wonder how many will be permanent.

Deepest Bedfordshire, so definitely the UK.

The DP album is baffling then.

Where are you located - I purchased the Kate Bush albums when the hi-res offerings were announced, no warning for me yet.

Could you kindly copy that to the thread in Music and note location snd maybe quality - CD vs hi-res?

Iā€™ve marked my purchased version and the current version as favourites in the Qobuz App. Letā€™s see if the 16 track version becomes unavailable for streaming on Oct 1st.

CD or hi-res?

Suspect it will - the catalogue is likely changing or has changed probably explaining why my Toyah purchases do not register as purchased if I add them to the basket.

Hey

Not sure what this all has to do with unsubscribing and the story behind the decision to do that

The streaming business is not doing well. Except Spotify and Youtube. The rest is flatlining or going down.

Many labels are also are also planning for a more artist oriented system in the future.

Apologies for the thread drift, thatā€™s largely why I earlier created separate threads - mainly as a heads up for those who might miss the short-notice emails of changes.

i noticed this week that quite a few (canadian as it happens) albums that appeared in the artist discography on qobuz gave a 404 error when i tried to click through to the album - if this is any indication it seems we are in for significant cutbacks in albums available for streaming. getting back on topic this could lead to me re-considering my qobuz subscription

Mine has only recently renewed for the year, but I sense the same - fewer titles to stream.

Odd when Qobuz was one of the best at paying artists per streaming play.

Not the right place to discuss this perhaps. But if Qobuz does not generate a lot of streams it doesnt matter much. Spotify doesnt pay much per stream but can generate a decent income to at least some artists due to the large number of streamers. And a few artists make a lot of gold on Spotify.

Another reason to what we see on Qobuz can be smaller labels going out of business taking their library of artists with them. But then they should disappear on all streaming platforms - or maybe they just dont care. So a plus for Qobuz for letting us know no matter the reason.

I thought upsampling was common in digital sources in Hifi systems.

That software sounds very interesting to be honest, but probably wouldnā€™t buy at those prices - 30 day demo I think which would be nice when thereā€™s some time to tinker.

@ratrat Iā€™ve done the exact same thing in cancelling Qobuz about 2 months ago and havenā€™t missed it one bit. Iā€™ve kept Apple Music for my daughter and for airplaying back ground music.
Not having Qobuz has made me look at my music collection in a different light as well. Iā€™ve now loaded up all my vinyl to the Discogs app for cataloging my collection which made me realise Iā€™ve got so much Iā€™ve not listened to and a lot Iā€™ve sold or exchanged now. The NAS Iā€™ve started to clean up as well.
With my wife working in a charity shop Iā€™ve probably got over a hundred CDs to rip now as well.
So not missing the streaming service one bit.

@Alley_Cat The fact that streaming services can remove albums and artists when it suits them is another reason I think having either the physical media or the download is always going to be the best option rather then relying on which ever service you subscribe to.
Iā€™ve also found that at times they donā€™t have what I want or the version that is considered the best digital version.
