I think you need to keep an eye out for a 500DR. They do come up on ebay and other hifi shops online. With patience, time and luck you will be able to buy one. I got mine at auction on ebay for a very low price.
The 500DR is well worth the wait if you can pick one up used.
Likewise, it’s worth getting the 555PSDR, ND555 and 552DR. It’s a case of building up used over time for many of us. They do come up!
I got close to getting a 500dr earlier in the year, but at £15k it was well over my budget. The seller didnt want to entertain any discount etc. and I would have had to travel to pick it up. It was 4? Years old from memory, so would not have any warranty. Instead, I bought a pair of 350s from my local dealer. In my set up, they fit and suit perfectly and we’re a lot less.
So yes, 500dr can be found used, but the non dr is a lot less, but watch out if a service is due.
Realise you love your DR kit .. but did you ever do A/B comparisons of each piece .. DR versus Non-DR, both freshly serviced, in the same system at the same time?
I just bought all my Naim kit on ebay used over time. I had listened to Naim 500DR series gear a fair few times at dealers beforehand. And the Supercap 2 I had was excellent.
OK - I haven’t done these comparisons either - but I have all the non-DR versions and love them .. so I’m not 100% convinced that everyone automatically needs DR every time. (My Rolexes are non-DR too )
