Vintage NAIM NAC/NAP

Thanks for that, Adam. I didn’t know that’s what was happening. That makes much more sense than dealers hacking up 32s. LOL. The gem about the insulated phonos is especially interesting. Also Paul’s take on it as, at the risk of sounding too much like a fanboy, he’s at the top of my list of having the best judgment of what’s good in audio; particularly what’s good and lasting. Which is not to say that Roy isn’t up there too, because he is. And he’s a good mate of mine.

Btw, Adam, you may not remember but we chatted on your website a couple of months back, about the new Rega.

We may well have bumped into each other in the Sound Org back then. I was in there almost every day when they first opened and when they were designing the turntable table. I couldn’t say I helped with it but I listened to it alogside various other possibities. (Later I would help bash them into shape as they came in from the welders.) It was initially designed just because they needed something to put all the different spec LP12s on and, having the great ears that they did, especially Hamish, Hamish and Roger realised that it sounded better than anything else. Then some real work on the sound started with them experimenting with different materials for the top and the best placement for the hangers. Those original ones - pre them being welded - are probably the best sounding and were put together with right angle plastic inserts. FWIW, I still use Sound Org stands to this day, though the LP12 is such a chorus of resonances that I wouldn’t like to speculate on why they work so well.

Thanks so much Christian. We may have well bumped into each other back then because I was there fairly often. You reminded me that the first SO table I had came with the plastic inserts and I later changed it out for the welded version.

I think that’s already too much reserve, surely you can give something away, right?
