Thanks for the suggestion, but I cannot imagine going back to conventional speakers again. I did hear some earlier Magicos, but although quite detailed, they really didn’t do it for me. And after the Shahinians the idea of some of some monoliths firing the treble from on high is deeply unattractive…
Dunc was talking about sheep as a person who follows other persons, be it Naim, Vitus or Linn…
He said that only a listening at home can tell us if we will like it and find it better or not.
Usually that type of big amp use a platform, as Hrs or Finite elemente. The platform also costs between 2/4 k.
Here’s a nice one which could be converted to mount the hifi…
Getting back to the real fun and after all, what this is all about.
Richard (dealer) is popping up next Thursday, to drop me some better cables off, speaker and network. But also to make sure i have it all set up right etc. As i think i do, but you never know with me lol.
Been using it all day, as been lazy really and just left it in A/B mode and must say i am finding this most enjoyable as well.
Regarding sheep. I think out of all the breeds that supply us with their bits, sheep are my most favourable.
Cheese, milk, butter if you can find it, minced, jumpers, scalfes and socks. Even their washed intestines make better sausages.
Vitus themselves demo their amps on stillpoints straight on the floor mostly.
Looks like isolation using stillpoints or others like it is the preferred method.
Slightly OT here, but somewhat relevant;
The whole “Naim Sheep” things always brings a wry smile, as it has become completely distorted from the early days. I guess it’s Naim’s fault - years ago, one of the Naim marketing campaigns was to be different, and not follow the herd - i.e. buy Naim, and don’t be sheep (or should that be lamb - to the slaughter?).
Sheep were even revisited on a couple of occasions with the “We won’t pull the wool over your ears” campaign, and also one of the shows that some here may remember with the cut out sheep.
So there’s a certain irony when those who choose Naim are called “sheep”…
What about goats ?
Goats are really what sheep dream about being.
Like going up a class to impress the ewes.
Can scale a mountain on those four corners of the earth.
Goats are great, we have 5 adults and 3 kids, so funny and always being naughty.
We also have 5 sheep lol, 2 horses, loads off chickens, turkeys, ducks and pigs
There might be better value offers that sounds better than my 552/300 but there will also cost of many trials and errors in a 20+ year Hi-Fi journey, lots of money wasted İn order to reach there
With Naim almost every step was easy to plan with inceeasing returns/cost
Giving Me increasing plesure without having to go crazy with choices and variations
Maybe i am paying a little more but not shooting empty
I like the Naim sound
I am a loyal sheep
Round yours for a big BBQ when distancing is over, please.
Cooking the food on the amplifier no doubt.
You probably could, but what a mess it will make
I cannot take credit for the term. It was already around back when I joined the forum in 2003.

Jeremy Clarkson was very funny on his adventures of keeping sheep in the Sunday Times today. Main problem is their propensity to commit suicide (we have a few dozen ewes)
+1 and an excellent analysis as to how I feel.
I was recently confronted with the choice about what to do with my 15 year old 552 and 8 year old 500. The 552 needed a recap and DR - the 500 did not need a recap however it needed a DR.
At 60 years old I decided I did not want to go on a merry go round. Both are now with Chris West who is just finishing up the recap’s and dr’s. They will be good for another 15 years which will take me to age 75. At this point in my life I feel like I made a wise decision.
My upgrade itch will be scratched with a potential source upgrade. The dCS Rossini and Master Clock is inbound and I expect it to relegate the Linn KDS to headphone only duty.

Well, I guess there could be plenty of hifi amps out there, all sounding somewhat similar to the Vitus integrated, and some possibly even less expensive.
Quite a lot of people seem to enjoy the way they deliver music. And nothing wrong with that.
Naim has always been somewhat different.
So I don’t see much has changed. The sheep can follow the Vitus/Other route. Most on this Forum have chosen the unconventional, engaging, Naim sound.
As ken c would say … Enjoy
